I’ve got updates as well, I just got off the phone with my service manager.

He said the Ford hotline call went nowhere but he’s getting good support from the regional service engineer. Ford wants us to compare to a like unit, but we don’t have any on the lot nearby so the SM is going to try and take a road trip Monday morning to listen to an R about an hour away.

He says if the other truck doesn’t make the noise they will pursue a full engine replacement as they aren’t going to go through replacing the timing set one piece at a time.

I’m not sure what the plan is if the other truck exhibits the same noise but he mentioned that Ford also isn’t convinced that it’s not a normal issue, like your guys said @310Raptor.

Now that they have the truck apart are they replacing anything?

Ah ok I misread your other post. So are they calling it case closed or..? This is a really awful outcome, the noise is brutal.

Not yet. They are having the Ford engineer listen, he will be there on Monday. If they come back and say it’s normal I will not be happy. Nothing normal about that sound and I agree with @ToadSmasher2K1, just because other new ones make the noise doesn’t make it normal.

Absolutely I agree 1000%, and my service manager feels strongly that it is abnormal, but if Ford calls it normal then it’s a numbers game waiting for enough people to complain about it for them to approve warranty work.

I’m going to another local dealer some point this weekend to listen to one of theirs…I have to admit, I have had two raptors before, a gen 2 and gen 3. I was excited to come back to the brand. This has been a real pain in the ass

I hear ya, I swapped my ‘23 Raptor for the R because I found an MSRP deal but I’m sort of regretting it. The other truck was flawless.

If all trucks make it, doesn’t make it normal. It means there is an issue at scale. Hoping they figure it out because mine does it too

Hey guys,

So I realize now. I was sent two videos by the foreman. One is a brand new truck, first attachment. The other, is actually my video from my truck. They sound similar ish, but not the same to me. Seems like first vid sound goes away once it reaches temp. Second, my truck, sound gets louder.

You’ll see a reference at end of first video that shows water temp. It seems the sound goes away once it hits the notch.
On my truck, and shown in screen shot attached, sound intensifies at the notch.

First more rhythmic.
Second more random.

Possibly beginnings of the same issue?

I’ve driven many cars over the years and I’ve never heard any other engine make that noise. I’m not sure how you claim that offensive sharp chirp sound is normal.

If it’s normal then they should be able to tell you what it is. What part is making this “normal” sound.
