You realize the valves are no longer an ecoboost issue, right? Ford implemented the dual wash on the back of the valves to cure this issue. It is on all gen 2 ecoboost engines since 2015 and has proven to correct the problem. Too bad the engineers can't fix the other ecoboost problems.

Ford fixed it, so why do folks still buy these cans then?

The oil vapors still pass through as in gen1 ecoboost. The catch can catches that stuff. The gen 2 ecoboost has a dual wash system to clean the back of the valves since it was a problem in gen1 ecoboost.

You can still get some build up and you can get build up and a coating in your CAC. There is no damage to worry about but there is still many benefits to having a catch can, especially in forced induction applications since they have more blow by than NA.

I'm thinking of installing one, because although we have port injection also, the effect is cumulative..I don't see any down side except cost...

Installed a can on my 15 Lariat. Caught lots of material, was a huge pain to remember to empty. Wintertime was worse as it would freeze. Had to dump hot water to get it to loosen up.

Don’t want to get in that business again.

Why not just empty it after a drive?

Find a bottle, open hood, open drain, spill some on hand and framing members, smell like refinery, wipe up mess, close hood, environmentally dispose of bottle, drive and repeat?

Ya, sound like a great time every time you drive.

Perhaps I can pay you to stop by and drain? How’s 10 cents per visit sound?

That’s good to know I have the FR catch can and it didn’t drain on 20k service. This time I’ll make sure it does.

Just completed a ~2900 mile road trip from Seattle to Vegas, back through Death Valley and central Oregon over about a week. Averaged just under 18 MPG, including some stretches along US93 where I was able to let Venture (ya, I named my Raptor) stretch her wings for good long stretches. Didn't appear to use a measurable amount of oil based on the dipstick level, but I did find this in my just-installed JLT catch can. Not a huuuge amount, but still happy that that gunk isn't cycling through the intake side. Probably between 1 and 2 tablespoonsful Thank YOU JLT!. The last two pics are about 2/3 way thru the trip, haven't taken any from the end just yet.

My ONLY advice is...do NOT over-tighten the can on the mount. Depending on how you route the doses it may be difficult to get it off if you over-tighten it. I had to de-mount mint today to get the collector off. Put a drop of light machine oil on the threads to help, and just barely got it snug. Will check it from time to time to ensure it stays well fitted, but don't want to have to disconnect everything each time I want to empty it, though it's only a 5 minute job to do so.
