Finally looked at TRX up close

Yea this thing is hideous, and the interior is horrible too. Nothing but soft touch materials, way crappier than the Raptors full hard plastic interior. And the sound...terrible! Not sure what's more annoying, the supercharger or exhaust sound? The weedwhacker echoboost is far superior. Hell, that echoboost is soo awesome Ford didn't even make any change for the Gen 3. Oh don't forget that suspension, good thing Ford copied RAM's 5 link suspension or I would still be going sideways over railroad tracks. Yes, this TRX is pure crap.

I'm now considering the TRX but I'm waiting to see how expensive the Raptor R is. How's the traction in the rain? Does the AWD system have any torque steer like the Raptor does?

The Raptor R will have a $90k-$100k sticker, not including dealership markups. If you thought the GT350R mark-ups were bad, wait till the R comes out. Not sure on the rain, have only had for a month and not driven in the rain yet. Yes it has some torque steer on WOT when turning, I don't think I ever felt torque steer in my Raptor. I would highly recommend anyone that is considering a Gen 3 to look at the TRX and compare. Lots of MSRP dealerships now and a well equipped TRX can be had for less than a well equipped Gen 3. RAM is also coming out with a non-supercharged TRX version with the 392 Hemi and it will be priced considerably less than a Gen 3. Choices are a great thing. So far the TRX has been perfect and zero issues. I'm just about at 500 miles and I'm looking forward to doing the first oil change myself and trying out the launch control.

Appreciate your input. I've got a good contact at a dealership in Houston. I know she wouldn't charge me a mark-up, but ultimately that's not her call. I speced out both 2021 Raptor and a 2022 TRX and with similar options the Raptor was cheaper even adding the Power tech package. Raptor - $81k, TRX - $85k. I'm just not a fan of the V6 and this is the only turbo car I have ever owned. My other vehicle now is a 2019 ZL1 Camaro and if the TRX has similar driving characteristics like instant torque and no turbo lag then it would be worth a few more thousand.

Just curious, does he beat up on it off road?
Hell no. Like most Raptors, these things will sit in a garage. Mine doesn't, but if I had a half dozen cars and the space for them, it probably would. My friend also has an Aventador, a C8, Hellcat Jeep and a couple of other things.

Why?

The package works. It is the correct power for the intended use? Token 5hp increases , like guaranteed union increases, at some point have to top out in order to be cost effective.
It works sure, although I think non tuned Raptors feel slow and dull. But when building a top of the line vehicle in its class, more power is expected with a new model. At least I think that.
Can’t wait to see what the R brings to the table with HP. (And yes, I’m short sighted and the HP is what I care about most)

The last GEN RS7 has more horsepower and torque than this new current GEN RS7 and guess what it’s faster and overall better car.

saw one the other day, tried to look at it from a neutral perspective, but it looks like a 12 year old designed it with all the extra crap on it, trying to hard to look badass.

Yea I know. But the Raptor is a little deficient in the power dept to begin with.
Audi still has a long way to go to compete with AMG and M cars. That’s just my opinion.
