Swapped Running boards

I noticed in the Gen 2 forum they were discussing the running boards being possibly installed on the wrong side at the factory. My dad has a Gen 2 so I asked him to snap a picture then I also went outside and took a look at mine. Sure enough it seems like the running boards are on the wrong side...

I agree, to each their own, but tapered in the front looks so wonky to me. Most exterior accessories start bulky in the front and tapered in the back, it catches the eye as more aerodynamic. Different strokes.......

It’s odd that Ford has it stamped the opposite of how they install. Makes you think they would be backwards but they’ve been doing it that way for years so it seems purposeful
