Don't flame me if this has already been discussed (I did search the topic and nothing popped up), I came across this video on YouTube and wondered if anyone else had seen this? it sure looks like this guy had it right....

They are not backwards, tapered in the rear just like they have always been for 3 generations.
I agree, to each their own, but tapered in the front looks so wonky to me. Most exterior accessories start bulky in the front and tapered in the back, it catches the eye as more aerodynamic. Different strokes.......

It’s odd that Ford has it stamped the opposite of how they install. Makes you think they would be backwards but they’ve been doing it that way for years so it seems purposeful
