Put the nutsert in the spot. Use the Allen wrench to hold that screw in place, then use the 10mm wrench I believe to turn the nut 6-9 full turns depending on your truck. By tightening that nut it spreads the nutsert to stay in the tailgate

Ok I came to a friend's house to borrow some tools. I'm stuck... How does the nutsert go into the opening by the tailgate pivot point??? Is it supposed go screw in somewhere? I'm so lost...

The nutsert goes into the small oval hole about 5" away from the hinge. Once you tighten the nutsert as mentioned earlier the allen bolt, washers, roller, and nut are removed and discarded. What is left is just the threaded insert which gives you a place to attach the lower ball mount. Using a 13mm socket will secure the ball mount to the insert and secure the insert to the tailgate. I hope this make sense. I think its a much better design than the earlier version.

Yes, thank you guys for explaining this. Took me about a 1 hour install trying to figure that nutsert thing out lmao... I tightened it about 9 times, and still could not get the nutsert to sit tight in the oval hole. It just has a tiny bit of play, which I hope is alright.

Not a problem! It took me a bit to figure it out as well since I have never seen something like that before. The rest was really easy, and it works great!
