Well, after I read every thread that mentions the cutout, I think I got a pretty good handle on what I needed to order, and thought I would make a new thread and list what new guys should know.

You will need a SINGLE cutout, not a pair, 3", and if they ask how long of a wire to run to the switch, request a minimum of 12 ft to be on the safe side.

You are going to need a good muffler shop to install it for you and weld in place.

You cannot use the AUX switch to run the system. Although, you might be able to use two, but it would be a waste of resources since it comes with a switch.

But thats just the basics. I did more research on the manufacturers. I was first gonna buy the QTEC version, but I have read of some issues and they apparently dont like to put any warranty on them and they fail under extreme heat cycles. I know Henessey uses them too, but adds a couple relays for you to use the Aux switch. DHM started making these back in 2000. They have a good reputation, and Dave's background was as a machinist for jet engine supplier in Ohio for 20 years. His first one was for his car back in 96, when he had a Firebird with the cutout plates you could swap out. After he mentioned online that he could do it, he got swamped with requests and the rest is history. He claims to never had one returned due to mechanical failure, just when ricers hit them with speed bumps, etc...switches sometimes need to be replaced. I spoke with him for a long time, nice guy. So thats who I chose. 199 all inclusive, about the same for the QTEC, Henessey is 600.00 I hear, but thats a little pricey for my taste. I read they sell their relay to make the aux switch work though for 200 bucks...that might be an option if you have your heart set on using an aux switches for something other than an iPod holder.

If there is anything inaccurate to what I have stated, please chime in....but I cant wait to get my cutout in!

You can use one aux switch but you need to hook it up correctly via a relay ,which you should use for pretty much everything you hook up that uses a little power.

I mentioned that Henessey sells that relay switch so you can use the aux switch, but if it is really that simple, there would be other people doing it, and I have yet to find anyone who posted that soluton. My understanding is its either full open or full close and improper install will burn out the valve sylenoid, but if you know how to do it, please share.

I knew it wouldn't do anything for the performance, nothing in the $200.00 price range really will for a truck that is north of 6K Lbs.
That being said, it is one of the most gratifying mods I have ever done to a vehicle.
