^ this. I just pulled a trailer 1100 miles, and it drove me crazy. Why is it that the truck knows the trailer is there, but doesn't engage tow/haul mode automatically? At least if it won't engage automatically, it should STAY engaged after I engage it manually. I just don't understand how it detects a trailer and automatically adjusts the blind spot distance and does other things like increasing the number of flashes when you "tap" the blinkers, but doesn't engage tow/haul mode. Crazy.

I wouldn't want it to, but that's just me. Let's say I have something light, like a bass boat or some jet skis. I don't need frickin' tow/haul mode.

Says the flatlander!

Sure there's times you don't 'need' it with a light trailer, but honestly it would make more sense to sense and automatically turn on and one just turn's it off if they don't want it. Also it would likely be better for the truck transmission to automatically go to tow haul mode w/sensing a trailer connected instead of trying to stay in a gear longer than it should with a load.

Even with a light trailer and hills, you'll notice a difference between tow/haul mode and w/o. Can't speak specifically to the 3.5L HO Engine yet...but I know our other 3.5L even with a light load T/H responds so much better.

I hear ya, as I tow a couple different trailers myself. That said, I'd rather have it enabled and not really needed than needed but not enabled.

The ideal scenario would be if Ford allowed users to determine whether the truck defaults to last value or a specific value.
