the 6.2L is a better overall engine, it's the best truck engine on the market without going to diesel engines, for an offroad race truck, it is the best engine on the market, and it's the best engine ford produces not including the 6.7L scorpion, I'd say the 6.2L and 6.7L are even, but I use my truck to go fast, not haul obscene amounts of crap

Shit the 6.7 super duty will walk a Raptor. They are very fast for that heavy if a truck

Wtf could driver possibly have to do with drag racing 2 automatic 400hp 6000 lb trucks? I mean really all you need to do is pin it and sit there.

I was just going to say that, thanks.

I personally don't care about which motor is better, I'm just curious about the acceleration, incase I'm missing something.

I was talking about going fast in the desert, you know with corners, the 6.7L can be fast, but stock they run mid 16s, whereas i've run a 15.1 in my truck, and the engine is too heavy for offroad racing

I've owned both engines and I will take the 6.2L all day long. Not due to lack of performance of the EB but due to the fuel mileage Ford says wasn't there for me. I put 12k on my 2012 Platinum EcoBoost and it's life counter was 15.5mpg. My 2012 Raptor is 13.4mpg. I also had issues with the EB in heavy rain falling flat on it's face if you got on it. I've owned a lot of diesels and the EB does tow really well but didn't care for the fuel mileage considering that's the only reason I bought it. The best I ever got was 16.6mpg.

Oh trust me, I know it's too heavy for desert. You rarely ever see a diesel entered in the races for a reason.

I've always said that if the ecoboost was offered in the Raptor, that's what I would have gotten, and I don't think I would have been alone. However, Lumber's post about his mileage in the FX4 is enlightening. Perhaps the advertised mileage from the Ecoboost in the regular F150s wasn't even remotely possible in the bigger, taller, heavier Raptor body. That possibility never even occured to me.

Ford advertises the following numbers on their website:

ecoboost 4x4: 15 city / 21 highway
6.2 Raptor 4x4: 11 city / 16 highway

Suppose the ecoboost came in at 13 city / 18 highway in the Raptor body, how tempted would you be to just go for the 6.2? I think at that point I would say 'give me the V8'.

Not to mention, more rotational mass and more rolling resistance. Go to the normal f150 forums. All the lifted EB's avg like 14-15. I'm currently avg 13.6. So you won't save much with extra stuff fighting you.

It would have been a popular raptor engine for a year or maybe 2. Then everyone would have ******* about lack of performance and mileage and it most likely would have gone to the shit can in raptor trim. It's a great engine for its purpose, but our trucks don't fit that purpose.

I'm a big v8 guy. I just love the low rpm exhaust sound idling up to highway speed.

Just seems like its effortless, where as there's just more mechanics going on for the ecoboost. Has to translate to something.
