I hate the auto start stop thing, so I'm pulling that little plug as soon as I get a chance.

I pulled the switch out of the dash and put a jumper wire between the hot and the neutral so it defaults to off on start up. It stays off all the time now; however with this method you can't turn it on, though I don't know why you would want to.
This seems like the best alternative.

I pulled mine this morning and it works as advertised. Simple, easy to accomplish, easy to reverse. Everything else works normally. I’ll replace the plug when I tow (which is rarely). Nothing to buy. You don’t have to take plastic parts in your dash apart. You don’t have to mess with reprogramming the computer. IMHO this is the simplest easiest fix for the annoying F-ESS feature. Try it, you’ll like it.
