Thank you to most of you for the objective and well articulated responses.

Some of you suffer from NapoleonicRaptonic Disorder (It's real you can find it in the American Board of Psychology news letter). You're so defensive over your truck that it blinds you from rational conversation.

The forum won't let me write it out in crayon so I'll try to make this as simple as possible.

You have an amazing truck either way, it's okay to cherish your 6 or eight cylinders. It's okay to enjoy what you have. It's not ok to knock other peoples things, unless of course they're a **** and fire the first shot even then try to resist the urge. Take a step back for one ******* second and be grateful, there are many people that would eat shit to have either. Be ******* humble, enjoy it, you worked hard for it.

In short, I guess I'm concerned my Jenny might squirt and throw her parts on my Juan in the garage.

You do realize this topic has been BEATEN TO DEATH on this forum.....

I've owned two Japanese(Titan and Tacoma) trucks and 3 Japanese cars(Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Toyota). I have also owned many American trucks and American cars and trucks. I'm not claiming hard facts, just my strong opinion (which is pretty close to factual). In the last 10 years, American vehicles are better engineered, better looking, and have better technology than Japanese vehicles; however, American vehicle manufacturers DO NOT have the quality control of Japanese manufactures--not even close. Japan's manufacturing of vehicles is phenomenal, that's why they have fewer problems. IMO Ford has the worst QC out of all the big 3, but offers the best designed products.

If you buy a new Ford, expect to so spend a little time at the dealer doing warranty work, but once you get through the hiccups the vehicles is going to be just as reliable as any truck. I put 40,000 miles on my gen1 raptor with no issues, I also put 100,000 mikes on a 3.5L ecoboost with no issues (even without a weep hole). My 2007 Tacoma spent probably 40 days in the shop in the first 20,000 miles due to mechanical vibrations from the drive train. I had a 2012 mustang engine blow up in the first 4000 miles. My father has bought 3 Rams since 2009, convinced his buddy to buy one just like his, his buddies engine blew up the first month.

Sir, I've been watching these threads and your posts for a while. Please don't hijack this thread with your ******** insanity. Do us all a favor go clean your room/mom's basement.

Thanks in advance.

For a guy with less than 20 FRF posts to his credit, you sure come off as a little obnoxious. Tone that down a bit and you'll make more friends. No need to insult the whole damn forum.

On the other hand, I think you're on the money with your comment to Sasquatch77.

Sir, I apologize if you took my comment as pertinent to the entire forum. Most of the folks on here do have great conversation, I've learned a lot. And by no means did I intend to offend them. However, there are some that are not so great, quite pompous and arrogant. I'm not one for holding my thoughts back and call it as I see it. Sorry if that steps on the wrong toes, no intent.

I dropped off my 2-week old Raptor on Tuesday due to an oil pan leak and an airbag warning light that came on last weekend (Built 3/21). Dealer said they will need to keep it for about a week. I really hope that once these issues are fixed I will have good reliability with this truck, which is my 1st Ford. I'll be honest, I'm a little concerned at this point. All of my previous Japanese cars/trucks/SUVs have been pretty much bulletproof. I so badly want this truck to be great, and to be great, it's got to be fairly reliable. Just my $0.02.

Not unlike many other manufacturers these days, everything gets sourced from the. cheapest possible supplier. Fwiw I owned a '08 Cayenne GTS, great problem free SUV, traded in on a '14 Cayenne S, what a difference. The '14 has been in the shop so many times I lost count , not minor issues ( a/c x2, failed differential etc). The Porsche techs tell me ever since taken over by VW everything is far less robust than in the past, except the price of course!
So I'm not surprised there are some issues. But I think it's a vocal minority online.i can't wait for my new Raptor!

******** it Jake, do you have to pollute every thread with your fake CF photo? Geez man, he asked general questions about Gen 2s, not how to wrap it in fake CF.

You and sasquatch might be the same person... For him, its weep holes, for you its fake CF.

Ha ha!! Exactly what I was thinking as I read Jake's post. I thought he was banned... He is banned in the other forums, where he posted multiple pics of his fake CF exhaust tips and polluted tons of threads.

Well, everyone got to see Jake's CF exhaust again, and he probably got tremendous joy out of posting this pic again.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but Jake's wheels that he also posts all over are absolutely hideous.

My 17 was an Oct 14 build and it didn't get delivered until Jan 18. I have no doubt that it was taken apart many times to implement fixes. I've only had two issues and neither of them major. The steering was out of alignment (easy fix) and the wastegate actuator stuck and had to be replaced. These are not issues that are unique to a first year launch. I'd be confident buying a 17 again. I don't think you'll have any issues with an 18. Yes there are threads on here about issues (mostly because people don't start threads that say "Had my truck for 3 months, still no issues") but there are also a lot of guys bitching about shit that doesn't matter and isn't a real issue (plastic in center console isn't pretty, glove box is off by 3mm, my wheel has more wheel weights, and other stupid crap).

I say keep the Gen1 and make it into an all out offroad beast, get a 18 and make it your weekend warrior, live happily ever after.

If you call asking if my glove box is normal bitching then yea I guess I was bitching? When you pay 65k for a truck I guess you'd expect little things like the glove box to line up. Considering my 25k golf tdi has a glove box that lines up.... but hey **** it it's only small crap on an expensive truck. Anywayssss back to topic OP. I love my truck it's running strong no issues knock on wood. The only thing I've questioned is the glove box and the weird knock I got at the gas station which has since went away. All in all every car/ truck assembly line will have problems... this is no exception. Buy with confidence in knowing you're getting a badass ass truck and do what I did negotiate the hell out of an extended warranty in case something comes up! Good luck man.
