Aluminum is lighter and all that and I probably wouldn't mind. I don't even have a use for these as of right now, but that's probably going to change once I had a set, lol!

If I had the choice I would go with the extra weight (like you i like to overbuild) but if you think it would hold just as well I'm game. I will probably end up securing them directly to the console eventually. Need it to be off road friendly...

has anyone ever noticed if u lift out the rear cup holder inserts there's a circular indent in 1, and an oval shaped indent in the other. there doesn't seem to be a good reason for them to be there so maybe they are pill holders. the round 1 for percs and the oval one for vics.

You've got it all wrong. It's roofies (Rohypnol) on the right and condoms on the left! :hump:
Cool mod!

Any way this could be intergrated to work in the front cup holders? Maybe i missed something but this could be a great way to mount an i pad for offraoding since it will be in the front of the cab. Also people could try and mount other GPS devieces from it. Just wondering since it seems like it would work well.

Apparently a 24oz. Budweiser when placed in the cup holder fits too snugly. I managed to lose on of the rubber cup holder thingys. Velcro may be a good idea.

As a firefighter I would say do not use that. If you ever get in an accident that will fly out and kill or hurt someone in the truck if they aren't bolted in somehow.
