l'm totally down for a set!!! SUCH a good idea! You could also supplement with some Velcro on the bottom for when things get a bit more bumpy.

Nice!

And they definitely don't need Velcro. They fit very solidly. The fitment is tight enough that they actually push the rubber console "cup" out slightly and seals tight against the walls of the cupholder. I actually hold the console top down when I lift it out so it doesn't take the console top along with it.

Holy cow, that's a lot of ballast for an iPod thingie! If you ever roll your truck, those jewels are going to slide out of your cupholders and brain you!

Just thinking out loud...
Would it be better to remove the rubber cups and make the "balls" a bit bigger? I would think that would make a more solid connection and be less prone to vibration... and then the Velcro on the bottom would be effective.

I'm prone to overkill.

And I won't have it in the truck all the time... only longer trips. I may see what it would cost to be done in aluminum instead.

Everyone always wants bigger balls.

If you pull the rubber inserts out, you'll see that they have ribs running vertically. These compress with the fitment and actually help them fit more solidly. The rubber inserts work very well to dampen vibration. The mount really doesn't move at all. With my setup, the only thing that makes any noise is the spring loaded RAM tray that I ordered. Its not made as solidly as I would like.
