Do you put weight in bed for snow or not needed

question with snow driving meaning moderate snow is weighing down bed with couple hundred pounds of something necessary or does the sand/mud mode do fine?

I dont put in any weight. I dont use weather mode either as it makes it very sluggish.

I'll usually roll up the bed cover if I know it's gonna snow, then when it's done, roll it back to close / seal things up, and use that as added weight in the rear.

As a person who has grown up in northern states, the only reason I've ever found to put weight in the bed of your truck during winter is if the truck isn't 4x4 capable. If you can put it in four wheel drive, there's very little need for the extra traction in the rear.

Last winter, my (non-Raptor) F150 was in 2H 98% of the time. The only times I had it in 4H was in heavy snow and I wanted the front traction. With the Rap, I plan to use 4A instead of 4H unless I'm stuck.

No weight for either of our trucks. We run 4A most of the winter because almost every drive from our house will involve packed snow/ice roads to asphalt that will vary between clear to blowing/drifting snow out around the farm fields. Anything more than about 4-5 inches of snow and we will change that over to 4H. If you run 4A in serious snow the truck will eventually switch itself over to 4H all on its own. The fricken traction control nannies will get you stuck in serious snow events. It will slow the truck down enough that you lose your forward energy and you are all done at that point, especially when you get in stuff that is high enough to cause the skid plates to act like a toboggan and lift the truck enough to start unloading the weight off of the wheels. A shovel is your friend at that point (I might have some experience with that).

Other than the traction control nannies, which I believe all the new trucks have or are going to, this truck is better than any other factory stock vehicle that I have driven in the snow. It’s a blast to turn off the nannies and head out to rip up the lake once the ice gets thick enough:
