The inner tie rod end isn't saving the rack from anything...lol

The issue is actually with aftermarket tie rods that used a hexagonal shaft instead of a round shaft; they don’t seal to the bellows and allow moisture and debris to enter the rack, causing it to fail.

That I could certainly see. And its why I got SDHQ tierods. Round shaft, and trimmed the boot fit very snugly on the tie rod to keep it sealed as best as possible.
