Is the amp for the doors and fronts next to the sub amp or is it actually just a single amp system? Haven’t dissected anything yet.

Yes...except...the pillar tweeters and center speaker are run of a small amp in / under the dash. so when you remove and replace the big factory amp, no signal is sent to the smal amp. thats why you have to run new wires to the tweeters in the pillar, and why nobody puts in a center speaker....it is no longer needed.

So dumb question.

The can plug at the factory amp has all the speaker wires

Say a Velocity Blue 802a owner wanted to do the zen and upgrade all the speakers and put an aftermarket amp in. Could said owner just tie into those wires or do you have to run new wires?

Wouldn’t be pushing much for than 45-60watts to the new speakers. Sub would be upgraded as well with new wiring since it’s right there.

Post #4 in my build thread shows you how to do that. yes. you can tie into the factory harness in the back for everything but the tweeters. you have to run wire for those.

You'll have to run new wires to the tweeters in the A-pillars because those are fed directly from the head unit. Piece of cake, even for someone as dumb as me. The rest of the wires can be reused. I used the empty pins on the adapter cable connector and wiring diagram that came with the Nav to tap those wires and it was very clean. No cutting or spicing the factory harness.
Thank you sir.

Wealth of good information. While changing the factory sub to Aux sub addition gave the sub the ability to hit to its potential on louder volume levels, which is better. Is there anything else that can be done to increase the volume of the sub at low to medium volumes? I think I know the answer to this one, but had to ask. Yes I’m looking for something of an option of a gain to crank up on the amp or sub volume control lol. I can wish right?

Are we taking the front pillar speakers? What about the center? Sounds like a cheap upgrade to do for now. I just need it brighter and the mid range cleared up some. Extra volume is good too.

Most folks who did simple upgrades did the front components (A-pillar tweets and 6x9s in the kickpanel). Go back with an efficient, low impedance set of components. You can go back with 6x9s, but you have more options if you go back with 6.5s. I went with JBLs, but the Morels are highly thought of, as well. You can either leave the center alone or disconnect it...not worth it to change it out. New/better front speakers will overpower it easily, so I just left mine alone. I do not think it is worth it to replace the rear 6.5 coax speakers in the B&O if you do not upgrade the amp/dsp. The stock B&O amp just does not send enough signal back there to make it worth it...pure fill. This and the sub tweak on forscan discussed here are the limits of what you can do without taking the NavTV/amp plunge.

Think I will keep it simple for now and get around to upgrading the 4 front speakers. I would be happy to just get the sound quality corrected. If I get a little more power great.

What is the easiest way to hookup an aftermarket amp to the factory sub as well? I also could try to find a higher end 8” sub driver as well. I have a JL 500W mono block I can use.

 have you not been paying attention. It will do you no good. As the volume gets turned up, the bass gets turned down. There is no signal to amplify. The best you can hope for is a fake electronic rebuilding of the lost bass by Audio Control or, but that electronic wizardry is a band aid that doesn't fix the problem and does not sound very good.

High level inputs are bad. Period.

You have to replace it all if you want it to sound better.

So you guys are saying this thing is no Bang and all Olufson?

After 9 years with the 2011 Sony system....the B&O is the world's greatest stereo to me. :D (And yes, obviously I've never had a proper setup).
