YES, they collect sales tax ALWAYS in CA!!!

So, since I’ve already paid at the time of purchase to the OH dealer, they report this to the CA DMV; and I will not have to pay sales tax.

When I registered the new-dealer-purchase vehicles from CO & MO as both of these states did not collect sales tax, CA DMV collected sales tax at the time of registrations based upon the purchase price.

I just sold my 2015 F150 to a buddy…he had to PAY sales tax on my used 6 year old vehicle when he transferred and registered it (I paid sales tax when I bought it new)…FRIGGIN DEATH & TAXES AND DOUBLE TAXATION!!!
That's criminal!!

Anyone got any leads on a MSRP LFG in the South East please let me know. Retired Navy so I really wanted that color. Still clean and unscheduled but it isn't looking good.

I have a question for everyone buying Raptors out of state. How are you handling the sales tax/registration process? Does it go based off your home state for sales tax or are you paying state where it is purchased?
I just bought a GT 500 out of state. The dealer collected the Michigan sales tax (my home). You pay sales tax in your state. They'll collect it when you register the car if the dealer doesn't.

I would have to dig quite a bit to find it. We usually communicate via text or phone call. Just Google the dealership and ask for him. They're pretty accessible there!
Ok. No worries. They’ll be a backup plan since they are so far away from me here in AZ. But I might not have a choice to drive 1700 miles…..

For all of you ordering at MSRP, are you paying cash with no trade? What if you have a trade but won't know what they will give you for it months from now when the Raptor comes in. Just curious what the best way to deal is if you have a trade. Thanks!
Trade+ $9200 cash, no financing. MSRP. If they pull through and don’t try anything last minute, I’ll gladly give their info out on this post. They tried low balling me on the trade but I ended up talking them up to a good deal. Other than that it’s been a good experience. I did buy my 2019 from them, but I’m not sure that made any difference.

Tax is collected on all used cars sales in Texas too. It’s not some CA only thing, pretty normal.
