I didn't think so... but this is the internet and everyone has an opinion.

PM sent. They didn't show me any of your "personal" info, just all the numbers on the deal. He also would not let me take the details that he had printed, not that I wanted to either. I wouldn't under-the-bus Paris for getting this for me. You are right, he really is a great guy and I think he was just trying to defend his "honor" because he kept insisting that you didn't get invoice and I told him he was lying LOL.

I have to say, this is the first forum I've been on that readily exchanges "invoice" for "msrp" ...almost every dealer I talked to was willing to do MSRP, so hearing that one would sell at invoice was an exciting proposition. Now I have been brought back to reality, and heading to put a deposit down on the in-bound truck that I found.

Some people do get confused, however, many have searched for dealers who sell near invoice.

I got $1,000 below MSRP from pretty much all of the dealers in Dallas. You just need to TELL them and not ask! It helps if you have a trade also. If they won't take any off of the MSRP, then just demand $1,000 on top of the value that they give you for the trade. Good luck!

You never win when trading, its a give and take tale. I am trading, I know but at least I know exactly where I am on the deal and I have a different reason why trade vs. sell. You can do a lot better than just $1k off sticker if you have patience.

Quick update, the "Houston" thread pointed me at Autonation in FW. They are willing to order for $1k over invoice or sell one off the lot $1.5k over.

With that info in mind, I went back to Grapevine because they already have the exact truck I want on the way, but yesterday they only wanted to talk MSRP... We negotiated to $1,800 above invoice (almost $3k below sticker). They also stepped up on my trade and have me $1k more than previous offers... so effectively I got the Raptor for $800 over invoice... so I am happy and the deal is signed.

Guess that is one way to look at it but still $1800 over. Congrats though, that really ain't too bad for what is as close to a lot Raptor as it comes. How long do you have to wait?

Well, like you said, when trading it can be hard to negotiate a solid deal. I got your PM and appreciate the info, but your dealer could give me a good deal on the Raptor and short me on the trade. I feel like I found a good balance and well below MSRP. I also don't have to worry about allocations or order times... This one is already being built and should be at the dealer in 3 weeks.

If the entire deal is without a trade, then yes the one I sent you is better but with a 3-4 month wait. As stated, when throwing a trade in the mix, everything changes.

PMed you back. Honest mistake- was typing too quickly. Most dealers won't even get near invoice since they know they can move them rather quickly. I bought mine, the Terrain, from them since they had the only two within several hundred miles. They did have 3 others that they had sitting for awhile that they wanted to get to me at a good price. End of the day, I'm happy. I got the color I wanted with the right equipment.

Bob Tomes up in mckinney gave me 3000 off of sticker, but I also bought an explorer that night at $1000 back of invoice. I think it all is about if you are happy with the deal or not.

AutoNation Ford in SOUTH Fort Worth gave me $3.6k off MSRP. Just do your research on Edmunds.com and don't get owned by a dealership for being a NEWB.
