The underspray over salt/mud/water, and on the UCA's and skid plates is unfortunately an everyday occurrence, doesn't make it right by any means but just about every dealer does that when they sell those packages on trucks/cars and dont do the work pre customer delivery.

The removal process is really what gets me and is probably the biggest part of your case at this point, I can't believe they would even return the truck in that condition. Their best bet would have been telling you to go pound sand and find another shop to do it. I'd assume some mineral spirits and a stiff brush would have got the majority of that shit off without any damage. Those scrape marks are about enough to make ya sick. Nothing short of contacting a lawyer will solve this in a positive manner, personally i'd cut off all communication with the dealer-- if they are willing to release a truck in the condition they did and call it job done they clearly have 0 morals and are gonna do whatever they can to screw you over.

Honestly, It is worth also filing a grievance with ford corporate. You want to show that you've exhausted all options for remediation.

I can't believe that any tech, service advisor, service manager, dealership, or automotively inclined human being would think the work was even remotely passable.

Get a lawyer. Keep your cool. have a body shop take pictures to document and provide a quote for remediation ASAP. Actually, get 2 quotes.

Have your legal counsel approach the dealership with a choice: Pay for remediation, offer a deal structured as you've indicated, or have a judge hear the case.

Ford corp has leaned into dealers for similar flubs and pressed the issue until the dealer did the right thing.

I wouldn't bank on Ford's help, but you have to try in order to show that all non-legal avenues have been explored.

DO NOT say anything to Ford about a lawsuit. As soon as those words are uttered, Ford employees won't be able to assist.

You may also want to go directly to Ford performance to air the grievance. While FP is part of Ford, they operate almost independently.

Net/net, the remediation IMO surpasses 10K, in which case it is above the threshold for small claims. Small claims would also mean that lawyers generally don't get involved, if those quotes from the body shop, summed with legal fees, inconvenience, lost wages, etc, should certainly get you up over the 10K.

Document EVERYTHING. Keep a journal with dates, times and summaries of any conversations or actions pertaining to remediation.
Thank you for the good advice!

I'll be happy if this helps you push through a rather unfortunate situation.

I had similar heartburn with my first GT350 over transmission overheating ( it was before they made the integrated trans pump/coolers standard equipment). an owner in s. florida filed a class action suit with prevented the rest of us from getting any satisfaction beyond a discount for the trans cooler kit with a new transmission. We all pretty much ended up being told to pound sand. I ended up engineering my own electric pump solution for the trans and rear differential cooling.

One thing to note- if remediation is the option chosen, another great reason to have ford involved is to ensure that the corrosion warranty is not void being that the dealer applied a coating, then removed it, which is technically modifying the vehicle from the delivered state.

I could be wrong but I /think/ I remember my dealer mentioning their undercoating has it's own warranty because it voids the factory warranty. If that's true he probably has exposed metal and no warranty

The dealer never said anything about voiding any rust warranty with the coating. Why would they be upfront and honest!? Fat chance. Now my rear axle and dif cover are bare metal due to them doing shit work.

Sorry for your luck - the 5.2 voodoo has about the same track record as the 3.5 ecoboost.

the 3 I've had have been good to go. The voodoo motors HATE to be babied. The harder you beat em, the better they run and the longer they last.

( Ive had a 15, a 16 and a 16R (which i still have) )

Have you tried the 5.8 Trinity engine? That thing is a beast. I think that's a better engine than the 6.2 blower motor in the CTS-V's.
