I guess repairing depends on if you want to go back to stock or improve the looks a little. I'm sure you can find a paint code and get some paint to look like stock. It's such a small spot and in the area that it's in, you could do the repairs easily yourself and save some money.

If and when my grill gets banged up a little, I will coat it with a bed covering like Line X or Raptor Liner. It looks really good, especially on the Ruby Red. I've already done most of the other 'grey' parts on my truck and it looks really good.

I'm hoping someone will know what paint code it is. I've gone to a couple body shops and they haven't been able to find it.

Ford has always taken care of me. When I dry my grille it always ends up leaving water sit in pretty much that exact area and straight line pattern because the towel doesn't reach back far enough unless you slip the edge in first. What do you use to wash your truck with? Ford shouldn't have to stand behind something that probably wasn't their fault....

As far as a fix goes I'd use it as an excuse to line-x or paint my grille, fenders and bumpers.

It's washed with Adam's Car Shampoo... Let's assume that your theory is correct, probably has a lot of truth to it if you've noticed this before. I'll have to look next time to see if water is pooling right there. If that is happening, do you honestly believe Ford's finish on the grill shouldn't be able to handle water sitting there? Come on man, if the finish can't stand that, it shouldn't be on a vehicle.

Have you purchased these 6 SVT vehicles from the same dealership over time? Or have you had no previous dealings with this dealership other than maintenance items?

Think where the dealership is coming from is if they just replace it and Ford denies the claim then they have to eat the cost. I would think if a dealer has been making money off of you for years, then paying for it would be more of a customer relations move more than anything. If the dealership doesn't really know you, I can see them pushing it off to Ford first to make sure they get paid. I've heard once your claim is in the system especially how many times denied, it doesn't matter at all if you take it to another dealership unless they just replace it and file later.

Said but true on dealership always looking for the next quick buck and not long term customers. My previous Ford had the emblem peeling and saw in a forum where it was getting replaced under warranty. My local dealership took pictures and submitted and ended up never replacing it. I purchased the truck from them. It was a $65 part so couldn't believe they just wouldn't replace it. Needless to say, even though that dealership is 1 mile from me, I will never go back. Granted I did bring my Raptor there too and when I was getting crappy service and other denied claims, it became my final straw.

I think your only choice to fix is to have a body shop remove it, sand it and paint.
There was someone that used some rattle can paint that matched nearly perfect in a thread here on the flares, so perhaps you can do it yourself.
And of course buy a new one and replace. I think they are around $800

EDIT: Did a quick search and found that paint flare thread

I think this should be filed under - "Shit Happens Occasionally"

My 2014 Ruby Red has been through numerous car washed, not washed at all for long periods of time, and now being done with Adams products. 68k + miles and zero issues with any finishes on the truck. Maybe you got one of those rare 'done on Friday at 4:45pm' vehicles that sneaked through Quality Control.

Good luck with your problem, but don't give up Ford fixing. You have to find the right dealership that will take your problem seriously. My dealership is fantastic at fixing things on all my vehicles. Get with some other PA guys and find out if they have a relationship with a dealership and see if they can help.

jeeeez just trying to help you figure out the cause for this to possibly help you find a solution ! I was thinking perhaps a heavier cleaner to get off bug guts off or something along those lines.. good luck either way

Should be an easy fix with the "soft iron" Rustoleum. Looks like you could get away with just painting the top edge of the grille. Sucks that you have to do it, but life goes on.

I think this is the paint code for the grill but not totally sure since I have not need to look into this yet. (CX) PMP-19500-7039A I don't know how the factory is treating the grill in production are they painting or using some kind of coating? I would ether get it replaced under warranty and if they don't paint it and see how it lasts. I am sure an new one is not cheap but that would be the way I would go if I need to replace.

I think you all are missing the point....it is a design flaw! FORD should have anticipated that water and corrosive 'stuff' might pool back there, so they should have designed a 5 degree slope back to front...dam FORD!

I love this truck!

Sorry to read about this problem. Sounds like it's an isolated thing, but now I want to go out and check mine! Good reminder to make sure there is no water pooling there regularly there when washing it.

Where does this angle come from? Have you determined this angle from your extensive background in automotive design? I think you are getting way too worked up about this. especially since you seem to have a one off problem. Design flaw? I would think there would be more than one then. I understand that you are frustrated but really this is not a global problem so get off your soap box, hike up your thong and jump through the hoops to get a new one or just bite the ******* bullet and make it work. there have been plenty of ideas better than the factory solution laid out here. Life is not fair.
