Hey guys I’ve owned a 2011 raptor for about 3 weeks now, this past Sunday I was up in the mountains playing in some snow. I put the truck in 4high and everything engaged like normal but when I turned the wheels to full lock facing left and gave it a little gas they’re was a Loud bang and jolt. After hopping out and visually inspecting everything looked fine, I put the truck back into 2wd and it didn’t make any strange sounds the rest of the day. I went to take my truck to work yesterday and noticed a loud knocking sound from the front drivers side wheel and when I got out to look at it my cv axle was disconnected from the wheel hub completely. I’m planning to replacing the cv but will the iwe need to be replaced as well? Any recommendations on parts?

So anyways....
:)

IWE may or may not have been damaged.
May or may not need replacing.
Should be able to test/trial while apart.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to replace while having access.

consider age, mileage, and if you are paying someone to do the work. if the iwe arent damaged and you dont mind getting back in there to replace them when they go bad i would not hesitate to just replace the cv. if you paying a shop, its not hard to replace the iwe once the cv is out of the way.

It’s a 2011, it’s time, the iwe’s are not that expensive. Unless you are planing on dumping the truck, while you’re in there, replace them! (Especially if you live in a rainy environment) Consider the ball joints too. It’s a giant pain in the a$$ when your IWE fails during winter, when it’s snowing, and your old worn out KO2’s are bald, and you’re running a whipple.
