Colorado and Utah

Italian Creek Trail is 27 miles and would take us into Crested Butte, CO. We had been getting heavy afternoon rain for the past 2 days so was not sure what to expect. The trail was rutted in some places, but much less rocky then other passes in the area. We hiked around the lake in Crested Butte and had planed to camp but the sky opened up and we ended up spending the night in town.

We awoke warm and dry. We hit up Lead King Basin and Paradise Divide before making our run to the San Juan Mountains of Southern Colorado. We saw a ton of wildlife and enjoyed watching my dad dodge the startled dear.

On our way out of Crested Butte around 2 PM the rain just got worse so we decided to take the highway instead of our planned offroad route. There are a lot of trails here and I would love to spend 2-3 days exploring the area.

We're planning on another Colorado run this summer….I might even climb another mountain…!!
Imogene Pass @ 13,114 ft was beautiful...!!

It was great meeting up last year. We are looking for late July or early August right now. I will PM you when I get things firmed up.Was thinking of doing central Colorado then heading into Utah and spending more time there.
