Goodness, you sound like me so often.
My install went fine and yes, I had a bear of a time with the sensor and just cut then tape.
I figured everyone would just turn to YouTube for the instructions, so very few parts come with instructions anymore and those that do often include TERRIBLE instructions. The various YouTubes are just OK, contrast usually terrible in picture quality, and explanations expect that you do this for a living often times.
Glad you got it together, it really seems like a quality kit, just absent of any explanation or installation guides.

When you installed yours, is your sensor rotated 180 deg from how it was on the OEM tube?

I Did IC, Cobb Intake,Cobb Stage 2 tune with transmission tune (highly recommend it), and AMS boost tubes same day. Hard to tell what the boost tubes added but much larger than stock.

Thanks for the thought, saw those posts as well. Sensor port is located in the right spot compared to stock. The 2.7 mounts closer to the aor box, our 3.5s mount further away so its not that. Right spot, just couldn't get the sensor in the same way as factory, had to turn it 180 in the socket which means the air is blowing opposite way...no idea if it really matters at all though.
I had to remove the strain relief and turn the sensor too. It seemed to fit kinda loose but it’s been fine and no CEL. I think it’s just a temperature sensor so orientation wouldn’t matter.
I didn’t have any other issues though.

Thanks, good to know it didnt cause issues. I left Cobb an SOS voicemail and email but waiting for an answer back yet. I have to drive with my kids in the truck later to an appointment and am a little worried about having an issue while they are with me.

I’m sure you could remove it completely and drive with the hole open and it would still get you where you wanna go. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I bought the Cobb intake and had a chance this afternoon to install it, lots of great review on it. I had a bad experience with install and consider myself fairly mechanically inclined. First issue was no instructions in the box, zip, zilch, nada, not even a picture. Quick youtube search and away I go. Could not for the life of me get the air sensor into the new Cobb tube in the same orientation as stock, had to turn it in the socket 180, then the wire harness didn't connect, the connector was taped back on the wire harness I assume to strain relieve the wires going into the sensor. I had to cut that tape, plug in and then retape in a different orientation to strain relieve the wires. I must have farted with that damn sensor for 3 hours and will be surprised as heck if I didn't damage it with how hard I was twisting, prying, pushing, etc. I eventually gave up and put it in 180 and just went with it. Then I got to the bracket that installs between the two Cobb tubes...good lord, I spent 2 hours trying to get the 4 holes to line up and not strip out the holes...finally gave up on that and got the Dremel out and reamed one hole larger to fit the 4th screw in. Tightened up the bracket and then tightened all the clamps. on the tubes and on the filter. Fired up the truck expecting to get a code from the air sensor but seemed fine, let it idle for 5 mins while cleaning up the ladder and tools.

Anyone know if turning the air sensor around like that (spinning it 180 in its socket) so the air flow is going the opposite way over the sensor in the tip of it, matters or does it not matter which way the air flows over the sensor??

The easiest way to find these instructions is to go to our website, find the product that you have purchased, and click on the button labeled 'Manuals' - this will link you directly to the instructions for that part number.

The orientation of the IAT sensor is not important - unlike a MAF which is actually measuring airflow, this is simply a temperature sensor. For the bracket fitment, we recommend that all tubes and couplers are left untightened until proper alignment can be accomplished. Feel free to send in some photos of how you have the intake installed and any feedback for the install process to [email protected] and we can see if there is anything that we can recommend.

There was a mention that they were sending 2.7 tubes to the 3.5 guys and the sensor placement was all jacked up, maybe you got the wrong tube?

The issue documented on this forum with the wrong tube was actually the result of the wrong part number being ordered, so luckily it does not look like there has been any improper fulfillment on our behalf. Nonetheless we've gotten that customer setup with the proper parts to resolve the fitment issue. Luckily we do have pretty good product tracking based on build dates, so if and when we do encounter an issue with fulfillment we can track down the batch of product to proactively correct the issue.

Appreciate the response, I left the coupler clamps loose and did the bracket first, then tightened all the clamps. Good to know the sensor can be 180 degrees and still be OK!

Hey guys. I just got a 20 Raptor excited to start doing modifications. I am thinking on CAI,Tune,lights and maybe exhausted. I read the whole post it seems like there are a lot of options. Anyone can help me with CAI/Tune recommendation. Thanks guys
