For those of us who already bought stage 1+, what is the benefit of going to stage 2 with the FMIC? Is the stock intercooler restricting the ability to tune to a higher rating that now is achievable with the FMIC? Is it just more efficient so you reduce IATs slightly?

Thank you, Tom! We'll get that out the door for you today!

The stock intercooler is the weak point on most EcoBoost platforms and the upgrade to the COBB unit allows you to run a more aggressive tune and reduce IATs significantly. Your IATs will run much closer to ambient air temp than the OEM intercooler.

Here's a comparison of the Stage 1 vs Stage 2 tune, both on 93 octane.

Stage 1 Gains:

Stage1 93 Oct. or 98 RON
Peak Gains: +18.45% HP / +18.41% TQ
Max Gains: +42.17% HP / +41.31% TQ

Stage 2 Gains:

Stage2 93 Oct. or 98 RON
Peak Gains: +23.53% HP / +20.93% TQ
Max Gains: +50.64% HP / +50.64% TQ

I appreciate the run down. That’s what worries me with tuning this motor. I trust the tune more than the motor. If something happens out of sheer coincidence, not even tune related, I’d pretty much be screwed.

So, that’s a hard no I couldn’t use all the other features of the AP unless I wrote a new tune to the truck?

You could use the gauges and code reader but would not be able to turn the auto start stop off without writing to the ECU.

Right. You would have to flash a map in order to use the features.

When the Accessport is properly uninstalled using the "Uninstall" option from the main menu, the ECU is reverted exactly back to stock. In our experience, the dealership is not able to tell if the ECU has been flashed. However, with that said, the AP is not designed to go around any kind of warranty coverage and there may be diagnostics at a much higher level we are unaware of. At the end of the day, it really comes down to how your local dealer handles modifications to the car: some don't mind a few mods and others don't like any.

As others said this is a little misreading. They will simply check the key cycle and see your 2017 has 10 key cycles on it since last flash which most likely was at the factory 2 years ago.
