Flying out west to pick up my new truck, then planning on driving the 2800+ miles back to Florida. We have a few short detours to go see some parks and monuments but most of the trip the plan is slow and steady.

Off the bat I am a hope for the best plan for the worst kind of person. So with that my thought is to pack up some tools and grab some spare parts and fluids when we get there. We have AAA so if something happens we do have at least some kind of tow setup. But my plan was to grab common issue parts on vehicles that could be quick fixes that would otherwise ruin your day.

Again the goal is to get the truck back running to get us into a town that could work in further more permanent fixes.

So looking for input of items to bring/buy:

Tools:
Sockets,
wrenches,
breaker bars,
screw drivers,
pliers,
Electrical pliers

Parts:
Belt
Rad hoses
Roll of 1/4 hose
Hose clamp assortment
Fuses
Ps pump
Alternator
I have 2 spares
4 jacks
Shovel
On board air

Spark plugs and wires?
External 12v fuel pump?

Fluids:
Ps
Coolant
Oil
Gas
Water

Extras:
Tape
Glue
Roll of 18g wire
Rtv

I’m sure I’m missing something...

Also this post will serve as our trip log too so pics to come.

I was into VW buses for awhile and a forum I was on put together a list of members that were willing to help with repairs and breakdowns. I’m sure if you have any issues this group would do the same.

Are you buying a new truck or a 1990 Prius ? What about self protection and I don't mean condoms! If you're buying a new truck why do you have all that worries? I been driving my 2017 and no issues at all. If you can't trust a brand new vehicle, why even buy it?
