Clunking sound on Gen 3 too

well got my truck back. issue was not the skid plate. their "chasis ears" could not pin point anything, even though the service advisor acknowledged the sound/vibration on the test drive. I may just buy new front shocks for 3700 installed as I love the truck and is way cheaper than trading it for another one and paying sales tax once again.

Don’t go to that extreme yet. With the amount of Gen 3 owners reporting this issue I cannot imagine there won’t be a service bulletin released in the near future that at least provides some direction, even if it make take some time to determine root cause or source replacement parts.

Not to mention that if it isn’t the front shocks, he’ll be out the money and still have the clunk….

Damn. I would agree to hold off on buying front shocks as there’s no guarantee that’ll fix things. Fingers crossed Ford can figure this out.

The frustration is real the truck is great. It just drives me insane listening to it/feeling it. I got moved to this Wednesday I was already told the shocks do make some noise but I’m not buying that excuse my Gen 2 didn’t make half as much noise and felt more solid

Yeah. Mine did this since I drove it off the lot. Definitely not normal. Its becoming irritating to drive. Could it be IN/OUT play in one of the axle shafts? Mine does it big time over small rough roads like an old parking lot. Wife was like "what the heck is that"?.

I never take anything into Ford unless I have a TSB or a light. They dont trouble shoot. They either plug in the IDS or look up a TSB.

Jumping up and down on the bumper does the same noise. My gen 1 and 2 had some shock noise, which was expected from the bypass shocks. This is definitely not that. Sounds like its coming from the passenger rear. Like the axle shaft moving in and out or something.

I sure do. Im not convinced it's the shock either. When the outside isn't covered with ice and salt, Im going to get under there and figure this out. First thing I am going to do is remove the shock. If its the shock. I'll replace it with a 2.0 or something for now. I have an incredible distaste for driving the thing right now. It feels like garbage. Still not convinced its play in the axle shaft. I think these 9.75s are semi-floaters so it could pretty easily move in and out. Im also not convinced that the noise when I jump up and down on the bumper (like in one of the previous videos) is the same noise I am hearing when driving.
