Clunking sound on Gen 3 too

are these all 21's with the issue or are there 22's as well. I assume there are so few 22's out there so it has to be just 21's. so far? curious. have a 22 ordered (supposedly). sure makes one think maybe wait til 23' and stick with my gen 2 another year.

I also live out in the country where the roads are a little rougher than your typical interstate. For me, the clunk had become unbearable. It felt and sounded like there were loose components, and it was beyond annoying. I may have even been able to live with the sound, but again, I could feel every bump.

The feeling is the worst part, I agree. I have taken my truck off road a few times and it is ridiculous. There is no confidence braking into a hard corner with any amount of bump. I'm one of the idiots that paid ADM in California, so I'm going to live with it and be happy, but this is not the way this truck should feel or perform.

Was up in Colorado Rockies the last few weeks and with all the snow the clunking suddenly disappeared! Really makes me think the ice clamped something together that stopped the clunking.

It's more situational I think. If I drive off from a stop light and get right up to speed at 35 mph or more it's not noticable. It's extremely noticable when I'm cruising down my country road at 18 mph and it has multiple pot holes or buckled asphalt from all the tractors. My gravel driveway gets a bit washed out in the winter, so it's pretty constant coming down the driveway. It's almost like it needs to go over multiple jolts in rapid succession to cause the clunk. I keep trying to find time to somehow mount my GoPro under the truck looking at the front driveshaft, bit who knows if that will show anything.

That's what I was going to suggest, get a camera under there and move it around until it does capture what's going on.

Unfortunately it's not the shock. Although there are many people with noisy rear shocks including mine with were replaced...Its not the cause for the clunk that people are experiencing. It is unknown if this is fixed in the 2022 f-150s. This is not isolated to the Raptor alone. It is present in highly optioned f-150's as well. The irony in this is based on the eminent recall, the noise originates from a drivetrain part that was designed to suppress sound entering the cabin. Apparently it has come loose on 180,000+ f-150s and hits the driveline on uneven roads causing the knock. It also has cause some owners drivelines to break which can create a pole-vault experience. Effected owners should be receiving recall notices in the next 20 days. Assuming Ford is waiting on these notices so that they can send instructions and parts to dealers to resolve expeditiously, shortly after we will know if it solves the problem. For those with 22's on order, it would be reasonable to think that because Ford is aware of the issue, and is hopefully sending parts to dealers ahead of the recall, that they may actually be resolving this on the production line. But that is a big assumption which from a practical matter could be contrasted by supply chain. It may be easier for them to knowingly produce a defective truck, ship it to recognize revenue, and have the dealers resolve the problem through the bulletin.
