Clunking sound on Gen 3 too

well. my new to me CPO Gold 2022 raptor came with the clunking sound. took it to dealer and told me i have to replace the front shock.. it's OUT OF POCKET since it's a wear and tear time. completely BS. Never in my experience had I had a manufacturer tell me shock is a wear and tear item. Acura, Honda, Toyota, they all replaced shock as part of warranty, original or CPO.

Luckily my dealership who sold the truck is reimbursing me for the cost. but its the last time I pay extra a ford CPO. it's leaving a really bad taste in my mouth. I could have bought a non-CPO for significantly less and bought a full coverage aftermarket warranty for A LOT LESS total OTD.

What's the mileage on the truck? And did you print and present them the TSB associated with the clunk?

Just a hair under 40,000 miles. I bought the truck at 39,700 miles I noticed it immediately. What TSB cover the cost of that even when ford declares it as a wear and tear?

Since it’s out of bumper to bumper there’s no getting it covered unfortunately.

A shock is a wear and tear item regardless of manufacturer. If the CPO warranty doesn’t cover it you can’t expect the manufacturer to make an exception, especially when it was purchased used.

However, I’m sure the dealer made a healthy margin on the sale. They sold it to with the clunk sound, they should be stepping up to cover it at their cost. Keep in mind that the CPO process requires an inspection and test drive; they should have noted that and repaired it at their cost before reselling it. I’d be asking for a copy of the inspection paperwork and requesting to meet with the General Manager.

They cut me a check for replacement shock, but there are number of other issues which I will not repeat on this chat. But ya rear clunk fixed with replacement. I got the old one which I plan on sending to Fox for rebuild. once I have a full set to swap.
Fox is good about sending repair report so I'm hoping they'll tell me what was wrong if anything.
