Clunking sound on Gen 3 too

That sounds kinda like it?

Not a bad idea on the shock upgrade, but I’d love for Ford to cover it.

It does in a very miniaturized example.

Its pretty amazing that a single shock could make such a ruckus.

I talked to a couple places that are working on a live valve deactivation module. Once we have that and get rid of the warnings on start up, I think we can put some quality shocks on this.

I feel like we are in the same position when ford started putting "Ranchos" on their trucks when in all actuality they were the same old Tenneco shocks ford uses in many of their other vehicles.

It makes sense though. The NVH is transmitted directly through tire/wheel to suspension / shock which is solidly mounted to ... The frame.

That little internal clunk may not sound like much but it will get transmitted through the mount points and I think I can understand how some of you Jen Tres owners might be getting pretty fed up at it.

So your sold that all this ruckus is indeed the shocks?

Absolutely. I pulled off the rear passenger shock and the noise/sensation was immediately gone. 100% without a doubt, the shock.

I contacted ICON to see if they have anything in the works. I know they have a complete electronic system for the GEN2. There stuff is pricy but I have used them in the past and they are a solid product with great service.

I have had a gen1 and gen2 and the FOX shocks are a little "clicky" (mostly in the front). This is a "BAM BAM BAM BAM.. BAM BAM BAM BAM" when driving through the parking lot to pick up the kids at school.

Ordered a replacement shock from ford. We will see if that fixes it. If not. I am either going to trade 'er in or try to work around the live valve and put a better set of shocks on.

Best way to describe the noise is to get 2 crow bars and, like drum sticks, do triplets with 75% power on the frame as you go over little inconsistencies in the road.

Not sure I follow. Mine is definately from the rear passenger side shock which I confirmed by taking it off and driving it. It was pretty obvious once I pulled it.

A couple looked like they were claiming it was the front shocks as well, didn’t know if you experienced that.

Ahh. I do think these bypass shocks give off a bit of clicking sounds as I have experienced on previous generation raptors. Perhaps there is a sensitivity to that. The fronts definitely do it more. I believe some people had concerns about that, which is a normal characteristic of these shocks. The sound I have in my rear is basically that sound multiplied by 1000

What probably doesnt help is that these aluminum trucks, since the bodies are so thin and frame is so rigid, they really transmit sounds and vibrations

Ok I gotcha. I love the truck to be honest so I’ll probably try to ride this out for a fix- let’s keep tight on when an after market comes out lol and I may go that route if ford doesn’t do anything

clicking is one thing, but the banging/clunking/whatever the hell is going on is not cool.

Just out of curiosity do you know if gen2 shocks fit a gen3? I just weirdly enough have a brand new (take off) set of gen 2 rears (the ones that are blue before they went to the orange colored ones.)

My new shock shipped. If that doesn’t fix it, I may be dumping mine too.

Not like it’s a little rattle either. I’m ok with those. People honestly comment on it when they ride in it.

Best way to describe it someone with a tire iron between the bed of the truck and the frame just going to town on it.

I kind of feel like we got scammed by ford.

When did you receive the truck? Is this a 2021 or 2022. Do you know if they have since fixed the issue?
