Well I got my 6 cans of amsoil to put on once my Raptor arrives (tomorrow hopefully). This test really made my mind up to go with it.

Had some time, I got some rubber and sprayed all three products.

Not sure what kind of results we will get if any, but nice to know it will not hurt any rubber. Amsoil and FF both say they can be used on rubber. Boeshield just says engine, I am assuming that means rubber also.

I detailed the process below in pictures, just in case any one wanted to try at home.

I Sprayed each piece of rubber seprate, meaning before I put it on the wood. It would be dumb to mount everything and then try to spray each piece of rubber. Huge amount of over spray if done that way. I wet them till they dripped to make sure it was covered.

I will let it sit in my garage, temp runs 85 to 99 and will let you guys know what happens. This will be a long term one. A few posts above some of the guys have the Amsoil on for 6 months no problem with the rubber.

I mean at this point we are really just wanting to see the Amsoil, LOL. After its performance outside, I have no problem believing what the can says it can be used on. My Raptor is on the truck in transit as I write this, I will Amsoil everything I can as soon as it comes home.

Keep in mind from what I have seen in the test, the Amsoil seems to cure in 24hrs or more. I think 48 would be better.

Their are still 2 other tests asked for (I didn't forget you guys).
  1. Washing dirt off of the steel after product applied.
  2. Amsoil over Boeshield.
I will get to those this week end. And then the last test starting from the begining, indoors with salt water.

It is great that you are continuing with this, but it would take forever to show ill effects of amsoil on rubber or anything else you find on a car or truck; just use it and be happy!

Oh I'll be happy alright, I got 12 cans waiting.

Yes I also know, after the first test everything else will still point to the winner.

I do think the FF and Boeshield will do better indoors without the pounding rain. We will still get valuable informantion from the other two in the second test. Its good to know, we may have a place for all three on our work benches depending on whats gotta get done

DIRT TEST

I forget to put the cans out but its the same places.

Amsoil---FF---Boeshield

Did the Dirt test as asked. I used the bottoms of the steel from the 1st test because all the product was still on there because none of them rusted. I could feel the tacky Amsoil, the FF was wet and the Boeshield was dry and you could see it on there.

All did well, they washed off with reg pressure from my hose which is coming out at 60 PSI (60lbs). I know something like that only because it comes out of a well, and every year I have to adjust it.

The Fluid Flim seemed to hold on to the dirt a bit more. The FF stays wet by design, the amsoil and Boeshield dry.

I then started to clean them up for the indoor test. All of the products sanded off real easy except the Amsoil. The only minor problem I had was it was gummy getting off. (Last picture to the right) Those black and grey spots are the Amsoil gumming up. Had to go thru two #60 grit discs. Buts thats the wax like nature of it. I think thats a good thing because who wants it off after we put it on.

I do not think washing the bottom of the truck will be a problem with any of the three.

GUYS FYI. the boeshield I sprayed under my truck is starting to look like the boeshield steel mike left out early on in the test. White n discolored, no rust just no clear. Hopefully my next offroading trip will sand blast most of it off so I can then apply my HDMP.

The Boeshield can says to remove use mineral sprits or a degreaser. I bet if you sprayed brake cleaner or gun scrubber (what I used to degrease in this test) that would get most of it off.

It did turn the rubber white in the rubber test. I will post picture as soon as I get a chance.
