Taking mine in today for the repair...finally. COVID-19 slowed things down a bit. Part of me really wishes this didn't have to be done, but most folks seem happy with the result, so here goes...

Should be getting mine back this week. It will be nice not to cringe every time I start it up on the mornings.

I can’t say any 19’s or 20’s have turned up going bad either. The update will prove itself with no failure’s to report.

My rattle is back after 7000 miles. It is sporadic and most noticeable after sitting for 8 plus hours. The first time I had the rattle was at 7000 miles. Strange Coincidence. Probably not. Drove it to 42k and had it fixed in December. Now I am at 49k.

I have part CD Cams and Part C Sprockets. I also had all timing components replaced including updated tensioners and solenoids. I now change the oil at 5k too with a Ford Performance filter too.

The Truck has sat more than ever with Covid Lockdown and I recently had a bad battery. Part of me hopes it something else rattling but after listening to it for 32k, I know the truth. The Truck is f%$cked again and this time I am driving the bastard until the engine rattles apart! Then maybe they will have a real fix before my 125k warranty runs out. I love my Truck and I am so deep into mods I cannot afford not too but this sucks!

If FordTechOne has any words of encouragement, I am all ears.

There were no updated tensioners or solenoids. Where did you hear that?

Also, there is no Ford "Performance Filter". Are you referring to something aftermarket?

Cam phaser noise/rattle is very distinct. As a technician, I have seen many confuse a failed cam phaser locking pin with plenty of other noises, many of which are just normal operation.

The solenoids and tensioners were discussed before you arrived. It is mentioned early on in this thread by one of the members. Guess it was a rumor.

Ford Performance Racing Oil Filter cm6731- FL820

Do not disagree here. Truck has been silent on startup for 7k. The rattle started with the Louisiana heat and a bad battery. Thought maybe it was the waste gate rattle but sure sounded like the phasers. Any thoughts on this? Does the Part C sprocket cause an issue as there is now a CD?

Thank you for joining this thread as the voice of reason. I appreciate all of your contributions.

I have an '18 Raptor. Purchased new. Had cam phasers replaced around 20K miles and just had them replaced again at 31K. Service tech said if I change my oil every 5K instead of waiting on the truck to tell me it's time, it won't happen again. Not optimistic.

I got an excuse today also saying since it does not have a check engine light it most likely not it.

Dropped my truck off today

It is weird that some dealers know exactly what it is and some dealers give an excuse. I don't understand as any worked performed is reimbursed by mother Ford. So why not say yes, we will fix it?
