Funny thing with mine is sometimes it sounds like that (loud enough to hear in the cab with the door shut) and other times is just slightly noticable like his video.

Smokie, yours sounds like the one I have driven. It was loud as shit and undeniable. Especially first thing in the morning. My biz partner traded it off at 100k miles for a 250 since it was 6 years old. His eco made the noise for more than 25k miles that I am aware of, never seemed to affect performance or reliability though. I hope you get yours fixed.

Wow - you are missing the point. Ford stated a TSB was coming in Q4. What you quoted from also indicates that new parts are coming.

Show me what part of that SSM indicates that new parts are coming. You're assuming something that was never stated.

WOW! This is some real misleading stuff. What in the heck are you talking about here? If you follow your logic and roll back to 7/10/2018, your point of "all phasers good after that" is complete crap. There are plenty here with build dates after that which have the problem. I guess I can't change your mind. Sounds like all phasers are still bad, and there is still nothing new for dealers to install.

So, buyers really need to know that all 3.5 cam phasers on the raptor are suspect to failure. There is no new design, and nothing being replaced will fix it.

You sound more and more like a troll with each post. Do you even own a Raptor, or are you just here to spread panic and misinformation? Your assertion that the part number was never revised is blatantly wrong. Are you so ridiculous that you truly believe Ford Engineering just made up a build date for the SSM? The build date cutoff is when the new parts were implemented, as well as the new PCM calibration.

Here is the parts catalog service part number supersession as well as the engineering part number supersession:

I think you need to take a break from this thread, for your mental health. Your truck sounds nothing like that latter one. Mine has sounded like yours since new, as far as I can tell, over 36k miles now.
I have been around, and frequently driven, a truck that has the phaser rattle on cold starts. You don't have it.

I agree; that's what I was getting at. I've diagnosed phaser rattle in everything from Corollas to Raptors. That does not sound to me like a phaser rattle; when they fail to lock it's very obvious. There is no quiet failure for this type of issue (not locking).

Yes I was actually going to reword that and mention again that I don't believe there is an issue at this time, so I agree.

As I mentioned earlier, I believe it may actually be normal, right now, and I'm fine if it stays that way.

My goal was to demonstrate that, even with potentially newly designed cam phasers which I hope I have, the noise is still there but at a much quieter scale.

I just wanted to let people listen, which may calm some as this is normal and it's just the way they sound after the redesign etc.

Cool if you don't hear it but wondering if anyone else can... NOT THE FAILED NOISE... the quiet scaled down but same noise?

After watching your video again, I am curious as to the sound you and other have identified as a suspect phaser rattle. Upon startup, the PCM runs a Self-Test which consists of actuating multiple engine related systems; one of those systems is the turbocharger wastegates. Maybe try observing the wastegates through the fender well on a cold start and see if the movement of the electronic actuator aligns with the noise your hearing? Just a thought.

Did I ever say I have the issue? Did I ever say my truck sounds as bad as the latter? What did I post? Yeaaaaahhhh... go ahead and reread the posts for the answers!

And yes. I will go MENTAL if my SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLAR truck needs engine repair directly out of the factory. Derp.

At this point, all I've said was that my video SOUNDS exactly like the rattle, just scaled down. And I have said and agreed that, at this point, what I'm hearing may be normal since I have no idea what a non-busted, normal cold soaked (1-2 days) cam phaser sounds like.

Also, I appreciate your input and help. And again, I'm not saying I have the issue. I can see where I am making the comparison and most others are like "THAT'S NOT IT MAN!". Yeah I get it. The "concerned" sound is WAY louder and more dramatic than that sound in my video. Agreed. But you can't deny that the sound in my video is a much scaled down version of the same "concerned" sound. Not issue. SOUND.

BTW, I'll observe in the fender area upon cold startup and let you know...[/QUOTE]

You are the one making comparisons between the trucks and posting vids, I was just trying to help you out.

EDIT: The title of your youtube video is:

Cam Phaser rattle sound 2K miles 2019 Oct build

So back to your first question, it does appear that you are saying you have the issue, though I am no English professor.

Weren't you posting up about the issue long before you even got the truck, like a lot? Anyway, it sounds like you won't be happy until you get the phaser rattle, so you can finally put it behind you. It's all just puzzling.

My god dude, buzz off. You're just trying to win some argument in your contrarian brain by any means necessary including word twisting. GROW UP.

It says SOUND. SOUND SOUND SOUND SOUND SOUND. Not ISSUE. SOUND. SEE SOUND! And no. It does not appear in any fashion whatsoever that I said I appear to have the issue. I guess you'll say and reach to any lengths to.. win... this? Good luck!

Seriously, if you aren't going to help then chime out.

FordTechOne- Please don't listen to Kuan. I suspect he is the same troll who has had many different user names and eventally gets banned once he is outed. I could be wrong but I doubt it.....

In any event, please do not stop contributing to this forum. I suspect I'm not the only one who values your contributions.
I appreciate fordtechone’s contributions
