HP and torque are directly related so I doubt the torque stays the same if the HP drops

Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2

From the 2011 manual:
"Octane Recommendations

Your vehicle is designed to use "Regular" unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87. In high altitude areas, we do not recommend the use of any "Regular" fuel with an octane rating below 87.

Horsepower (SAE net):
401 hp @ 5500 rpm on 87 octane
411 hp @ 5500 rpm on 91 octane

Torque:
434 lb-ft @ 4500 rpm on 87 octane
434 lb-ft @ 4500 rpm on 91 octane

Where I live my options are 87, 89, and 93.

With that being said would 93 provide more Hp?

I just run 87 or E-85 in mine depending on which one is cheaper. Once in awhile when I'm taking it out to romp on it I'll put in 91.

Your talking about the acidic properties that both ethanol and methanol display. But that goes into other stuff like fuel having to mix with the oil and if there is water containment. Which we know both are hydrophilic. Also, if your not getting a complete burn from the fuel which most modern OEM stuff should be fine. Unless your Greg.... :jawdrop:

I was referring to the fact you have to burn more fuel to get to the same place with the same driving conditions. Yes ethanol has a higher octane rating but the energy density of ethanol isn't there compared to 100% gasoline which equals more burnt fuel which should make the oil dirtier. e10 is about 3% difference and so on up to like e85 that is around 25% drop in efficiency.

Just a quick search around on the interweb :Big Laugh: and sounds like its a lot of CYA incase the "optimal" ethanol isn't 100% spot on to specs.

Ethanol and methanol are too different things

I use 89 if I'm road tripping it, but for offroading up here I put the good juice in it and run CHevron 94!!

Just in case you didn't know I run e-30 I love it has the power I like cheaper than regular IMO is better than just e-10 dose the same thing as the 93 Octane but for less.

I don't disagree that you will burn more e-85 as far as mpgs go. I'm just sayin that if you have a car/truck thats tuned for it that there is very cheap power to be gained. We didn't have e-30 in CA, but I would have given it a go as well.

OK got back from the SDBR on the way out using e-30 16.4 on the way out had just under quarter tank left filled at Mobil in deadwood with 91 octane. I immediately IMO noticed power loss I know I know. figured was going up a lot steeper hills so that was the reason. on the way home filled at the same gas station forgot to hit the reset button until I was threw deadwood going down a hill. getting 32.5 mpg thinking crap the 91 octane is going to kick e-30 butt. by the time I got home it was 14.5 I don't get it?

P.S. I ran the same speed and road on the way home. could have it been the truck was dirtier? I got rid of some weight and gained perhaps some I think it was a wash. I did wash out the tires before leaving. how I got rid of 18 cans of soup and drank at least 3 cases of water/powerade and food.
