I run Motorcraft full syn & filter. Boring I know. Maybe I'll go crazy next time and get the FP filter.

So I saw, posted in another forum, that Amsoil Signature Series is not API certified. Wondering, does anyone how this plays into warranty
Amsoil has other products that are API certified. The SS oil has too many additives in it and as such doesn't meet their "recipe" guidelines, as I understand it. By additives, I mean things like sulfated ash, boron, moly, etc. All the good stuff! ;)

If you are extremely concerned with the warranty, I would stick with API. Who knows if Ford would send the oil out for testing if you blow something up. Probably not.... but, it's possible.

There are a lot of discussions about Amsoil Signature not having the API certification. Amsoil helped create the API standards for motor oils back in the 70's, and they still have some API certified oils that they market. However for the Signature line, their explanation is API limits the amount of additives they can put in the oil, and they feel the additional additives (above the API limits) are beneficial to the life of the oil/engine. I personally have no problem running it - it is definitely a very high quality product and is a great fit for these engines.

What factual info do you have proving it is a high quality oil?

I would recommend driven FR50 for any Coyote engine (Predator as well). The base oil is mPAO vs PAO. This means it maintains Viscosity (VI) over the hundreds of heat cycles/duty cycle. The VI of Driven is due to the base oil and not by adding tons of viscosity improvers that all other 5w-50s have.

This stuff says
“This engine oil will NOT MEET any current API or OEM Engine Oil Specifications.”
Thing with most racing oils, they provide great protection but for short periods. They breakdown, at least that’s what a refinery product engineer told me. Most racing engines get the oil changed often as the engine is inspected or rebuilt. So they focus on extreme protection not longevity.

See if you can find this on the stock Motorcraft 5W50, then compare it to Motorcraft 5W30 full synthetic, among others. In fact, I'd genuinely like to see 5W50 from any brand that has the API emblem.

This is probably the second most discussed topic on all forums ever, for all vehicles, second to GAS MILEAGE.

Don't mind me though. I am just confused as to why this is a question. Change the oil ever 5-7k, same as the filter. Don't let the vehicle sit there, drive it correctly. Don't let it idle too much. Get a good catch can.

Am I missing anything?
