Te best intake for the money IMO is the one that comes with the truck.

My only problem with the stock air draw location is it can get a lot of water into it from the inner fender. There are a few holes that allow water to splash up inside. You need to add a grommet and make sure that no water will get in there.
heres what I did. I now draw my intake air from the middle of the inner fender location.

If you want to keep dust out, use the R2C air filter. Donaldson Power Core does not offer the same protection levels and the restriction is higher, especially when dirty. We tried them. Look at the last 425 race and see what the teams are using now.

Replacement filter for the stock airbox is a waste of money. Zero gains and the filter is worse than stock.

Better off keeping the stock parts if this is an intention.

Say someone will never off road the truck and just wanted the most hp however insignificant the gain. What would be the best flowing unit. Short of no filter at all of course.

Any unit that does not draw underhood air. It must draw clean/temp stable air to get the best performance. Units that draw underhood air will lower performance in city traffic until underhood heat is at ambient temp.

I think this is the first negative post I've seen on the DPC filter. Most rave about them.

The aFe Stage II w/ lid or Corsa. Both will perform about the same, get the Corsa if you want a little better fit and finish under the hood. You can't really go wrong with either.

Just know the instructions for the Corsa are absolutely terrible.

We had the Power Core filters tested for a few medium and heavy equipment applications.

High restriction, decent efficiency and a restriction climb that was near vertical as it got dirty. Not a very good design.

Not at all the case. We measured intake temps during a variety of driving methods. The speed of the air moving through the tube makes it almost impossible to transfer heat, especially during performance driving. Get a cheap anemometer and you'll see how fast intake air actually moves. I had aluminum intake tubes and applied over 250 degrees of constant heat to the exterior with virtually no change in intake air temps. The plastic tube intake air temps were virtually identical to the aluminum.

AFE allows dirt in during street use. Not recommended for Off-Road. Try one and look at the throttle body.
