I have an AFE cold air intake system installed already, but I like the sounds of the Volant Donaldson Powercore filter (99.97% filtration, basically maintenance free, resistant to water), will it fit onto the AFE filter connection?

Which one would you say is less noisy? I want the quietest ride possible with the less restrictive intake possible.

One could just easily put a prefilter on when off roading.

K&N!
mud, sand and dust sock for it is like $20

What do you plan on gaining over the stock intake with those requirements?

Air intake

What's the best intake configuration to buy for the 6.2L? I've been doing research and there are multiple great air intakes out there, but I'm intrigued by the Volant air intake system. I've pretty much settled on a closed air intake design.

From what I understand they have a unique filter design that nobody else in the market has called a PowerCore air filter. Supposedly this filter is no maintenance and good for over 100,000 miles and I believe these air filters were originally commissioned on the Hummers back in the day, but don't quote me on that. It looks absolutely nothing like the traditional cone shaped filters from K&N, Air Raid etc.

Has anyone on the board purchased one of the CAI systems? If so what type of luck and performance have you had with it?
I have the volant cold air intaker. 100,000 mile dry filter.

No problems with my Airaid intake - fitment was perfect and it seals well against the hood when blasting offroad across rivers / big mud / water pits so far!

On my brain
More power with as little noise as possible. That was the idea. But really, noise is not that big of a deal. Seeing someone complaining about the noise with Volant on another thread got me curious.

Is the stock intake very restrictive?

The 18hp gain claimed by AFE. That is with or without tune? Is that real at all? If true without a tune that could mean a restrictive intake.
