Curious, have you had an occasion to remove the ratchet strap? did the side rails return to the widened position?

Yep, its dirt bike season. The bed rails go right back to the widened position. My neighbor has agreed to fab me up a brace for a more permanent solution.

Yeah, mind went right back when I removed the ratchet strap as well. I think I'm going to take BlackMamba's advice and just shim the Bakflip rails.

I still like Turf Tamer's fix. I have two extra bed bolts identical to the ones he used and plan to install them this weekend. I like the idea of locking down the tops of the bed sides when playing hard/catching air (eg, TRR and Cycle Ranch) to minimize any future spread and to help keep my cover shut. Plan is to leave the extra shims in place.

If nothing else, for the guys who don't have a ***** of a bed and spread wide, we can drill the holes and do the strap as a precaution when we go off roading, until a vendor comes out with a product to help fix this issue.

I have a spare strapped to each of the bed hooks. That may be enough to keep the bed for spreading eagle?
