Just to clear up this little debate, I went in and looked this up. I knew I seen it somewhere before, I just couldnt remember exactly where. Maybe its just a military thing or even just an Air Force thing (since this is quoted out of an Air Force document), but according to AFPAM 36-2241 section 8.2.4.3.12, the union should be facing forward. Think about it like this: If you attached a flag pole to your vehicle, the union is at the top, closest to the pole. When driving forward, the stripes would trail behind. This is by no means meant to call anyone out or say "Your wrong, you need to change it." Im just posting this as a little FYI. When serving in the military, you kinda have a different appreciation for the flag. Im sure anyone who was/is in knows where Im coming from. Again, Im not trying to make anyone sound dumb or say your wrong. This is definietly the best graphics Ive seen on a raptor and will be looking into doing this myself.

That is the longest multi quote I have ever seen. Lol.

I would say it's a general military custom or tradition but the Air Force had nothing better to do so they put it in an instruction. ;)

Hahahaha and the Air Force jokes begin. All of my deployments have been with the Army so I can talk good and bad about both.

Actually most of the customs and courtesies about the flag are taken straight from the U.S. Code. This one apparently comes from Title 36 Ch 10 but I could only find up to Ch 9.

As for the longest multi-quote, Motomute holds that record in The posts taken out of context game. lol

Yes, that is what military standard is. That's the reason the Army's American flag patches look backwards on their ACU's. But as far as the truck goes, I don't think it matters one bit. If it weren't going to be a huge pain to get my factory one's off, I'd do it in a heartbeat. He's still representing our great nation, so....MERICA!!

Does anyone know exactly what it does take to get the graphics off? Ive taken lettering off of work truck before with a heat gun and it was pretty easy, just time consuming. Would that work for these graphics?

I could go on all day with air force jokes but thats only because I'm super jealous of all the money they recieve, especially for a bar in each damn ready room I've been to thus far.

Steve-O I think that is a good question for the design-n-signs guy, plus hes really quick at replying to PM's

Those damn snobby ass fighter pilots get everything they want. You should see the bars they have in their squadron building. Id love to know how to justify that. I gotta bend over backwards, beg and plead, and write a 3 page report on why I wore out a pair of boots over 2 years or why my uniform has a grease stain on it just to get new ones. Yes, sometimes I hate the Air Force too. lol. But unlike the Army, they do take care of their people. Ive seen it first hand from both sides.

I emailed Designs-n-Signs yesterday. I immediately got a response back saying he was in the middle of a big project and asked if he could get back with me Monday. I wont bug him over the weekend but come Mon, i'll have a laundry list of stuff to ask!

haha. yea its a fight for us to get anything either. I will say that the RQS units weve worked with had just as legit bars as the jet guys too. by far the best were the hog squadrons. Then again I havent worked with an F-16, -15, -22 squadrons. Just hogs and RQS.
