How often does one run in the sand to justify buying and using headlocks?

I personally don't like the look of the wheels - too many holes - and I could never justify running them since I rarely go dune-ing. Maybe if I lived near Pismo or some other dunes I'd consider it but otherwise nope.

I love the look of the beadlock wheel (my personal favorite of all the wheels to be honest) and I like the flexibility to convert them if the need arises (you just need the 4 rings which you can get for about $125 each delivered). They obviously would come in handy in the sand, deep snow or rougher (slower) off roading. The only thing that has stopped me from converting them as of now is the off-road only use stamped on them. Not illegal to use on the road (at least in most states) but the potential liability in this day and age has to be considered (and some shops won't even work on them).

Not to be a jerk but have you owned a truck before? Or went off roading? If not, a Raptor may be over kill for you

Dude I didn't know what they were when I bought my raptor nor had I ever owned a truck. Chill out, just cause you own a raptor doesn't make you an off road junkie.

I think this forum is building up the idea of a "prerunner" into more than what it really is, there is a difference between a "prerunner" and a built truck that's not used for racing purposes, literally anything can be a prerunner, I'm sure the bug class has stock bugs as their prerunners

Cleave - I've been noticing the same thing. It seems that some people think that you need a Stewart's Raceworks truck to have a true "prerunner." I've preran some good portions of the Baja 1000 a few times for class 7 and 8 trucks in vehicles less capable than a stock Raptor... you just have to go slower.

Rogillio - I think the description of a beadlock has been explained to you. The OEM 2013+ Raptors come with a "beauty ring" installed, but you can upgrade to a true beadlock with a Ford Racing part. Here's the instructions if you're interested:

That beauty ring saved my whole wheel from being destroyed when we hit a rock and punctured the tire its actually functional. I nailed the rock perfectly head on into the ring, pulled the ring off replaced the tire and put a new ring on Walla brand new . Its pretty beefy beauty ring . Like I said before I have the bead lock rings for the stock wheels aswell I just choose not to run them got tired of checking on them like cleave is doing . I dont dd drive my truck so I was worried about my truck sitting for long periods of time and losing air. It probably wouldn't happen but I didn't want to risk it i aired down to 20-22 psi on the toy run and the wheels with beauty rings worked great . Has anyone mounted 37" generals on these wheels im interested to see what it looks like .

I have seen some horrifying pictures of split rim accidents that scorched my brain years ago they are extremely dangerous if you are not trained.
