Be my voice of reason please. Can I really afford the Raptor?

2011/2012's still go for around $35k-$40k in my area, and interest rates on used vehicles are always higher. Yeah I'll have a lower payment but it's still a bad deal imo.

I bought my brother a 2013 last week with 35k miles on it 100k warranty for 48k $680 per month. I put 7k down for him

My 2017 was 30k down $1050 per Month.

Its a big difference.

If i could do it all over I would of just bought a 2014 for Cash and spiced it up. especially how much i run mine.

But boys will be boys and its in our blood to buy crazy stuff so i know you will do what you want.

If you have great credit you can get 4% on a used 12-13-14 raptor plus BTB warranty. Economics are not in your favor when it comes to buying new and more expensive truck

I got a pristine 2014 fully loaded Ruby Red with 4 year (from now) 100k bumper to bumper warranty for $45k. It only has 35k miles.

Got 3.9% financing for 64 months from the dealer, they matched my credit union. $0 down and my payment is $700

Mpg sucks at 13 but it takes 87 octane which offsets the higher mpg trucks imo

I need some different perspectives. I'm about a month out from placing my order so I'm starting to do some serious thinking about if I really can afford the raptor. I took my my monthly household income, and subtracted all my utilities rounded up to $100. Meaning my electric bill is usually $40-$50 but i subtracted $100. Gas is $20 but still subtracted $100 and so on. I subtracted every other expense (current truck payment, insurance, gas (x2 normal just in case we decide to drive somewhere for the weekend), groceries, and rent). I even subtracted $1000 for savings.

After all that I'm still left with $2300 a month. My payment on the raptor will likely be around $800. My insurance will probably go up $50 a month. So if I took on an extra expense of $850, I'll be left with $1,450 for personal expenses like eating out, entertainment etc.

Do you guys think I'm safe in getting the Raptor? Give me your perspective please.
Buying a Raptor is a ridiculously frivolous expense. Buying new is also foolish. Having said that, I bought my 2014 SCrew brand new with the SE package and every other conceivable option.

You'll have to put down about $25k to get around $800 a month payment. With nothing down, I think you'll be looking at somewhere around $1200 a month on a $70k truck....I could be wrong.
Naaah yo can finance 50k for 600/mo.

Of course you can afford it. You can see it in your numbers. The question you need to ask yourself is this: Is the additional cost now and the delaying of a day when you have paid off your vehicles worth it for a raptor.

Will you use it?
Will you just feel cool at McDonald's?
Will you use it?
Is that money worth more to you or your family elsewhere?
You know most raptors aren't even used for Raptoring. So... Will you use it?

My thought when people talk like this is that they kinda know they don't need it anyway and want to be helped along in making an excess decision.

"Yes, looks like you can afford a Raptor".

Yes, if you want to have a loan for 8 years, which they don't actually offer for that long.
I do not endorse making the regular payments. Always finance as far as you can and then make double payments or more. Cuts the interest that the long term incurs and you are safe if you wife leaves you with the truck and nothing else as you have low monthly responsibility. Paying a little more in interest usually for the peace of mind. Then there is option b but that money is still put to better use elsewhere unless you just have it in a standard savings account.

Long term, pay off x2.
Or.
Option b. Pay for it upfront with a cashier's check.

For the record mine is an 84 month loan on $48k and I'll have it paid off at 2.6 years. But if anything ever happens to me I have the lower payments.
