Same problem with Raptor and a different vehicle.

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same problem.

My dealer is a Ford/Jeep dealer.

The Jeep has a second battery that is for the start/stop system and will give the same message if not driven in a while

I had the same thing happen to my Raptor after not being driven for a while

Both were at the dealers and here's what they did and told me to do.

They had checked the charging and starting systems in both and everything was fine. Batteries were fine. They had done a hard reset on both and now if it happens again, which it did. I should continue to drive the vehicle like normal and it will automatically reset itself.

So far it has worked on both of my vehicles, but I have put a battery tender on my Raptor and have not had the problem since.

The wife drives the Jeep a little bit more then usual and there has not been a problem.

According to the dealer due to what's happening in the world right now they are seeing a lot of this because of vehicles sitting

Hopefully yours is the same issue

From what I found - it is not recommended to reset the BMS unless you are installing a new battery.
============================
NOTICE: DO NOT reset the battery monitoring system using the diagnostic scan tool. This reset is reserved for new battery installation. Resetting the battery monitoring system will clear the learned battery data, the battery time in service, and will affect the aging algorithm parameters, which have been learned since the installation of the battery.

Battery Replacement

If the vehicle battery is replaced, it is very important to perform the BMS Reset using a diagnostic scan tool. If the battery monitoring system reset is not carried out, it holds the old battery parameters and time in service counter in memory. Additionally it tells the system the battery is in an aged state and may limit the Electrical Energy Management system functions. For more information,
Refer to: See: Battery > Components > System Operation and Component Description Battery and Cables - System Operation and Component Description (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Description and Operation).
Thank you for the info here very helpful. Quick question? So if you do not have forscan you need to take it to your dealer and have them reset the BSM when you get a new battery?

Yes - the BMS will need to be reset if you get a new battery - hence - trip to the dealer or setup yourself with laptop, OBD cable and forscan.

Is there a way around having to bring it back to the dealer or use Forscan? With my BMW I would hook p the battery tender to the battery jump post under the hood to keep a constant supply of power flowing and ground to the motor. Then VERY Carefully remove the battery from the trunk and replace it. I learned this from a BMW tech and it basically saved me from having to reset the alarm and the presets for the stereo. That was back in the day and I have seen products that supposedly plug into USB and provide power to the computer allowing you to change a battery. I have never tried one but it kinda makes sense

It sounds like there is something else going on not sure what. I had the Forscan alteration done to disable Stop Start at 2 weeks old and no issues like these. It's a 19 and sits for days and sometimes weeks and has even gone into a deep sleep mode as many as 4 times in about 8 months of ownership with not issues.

I would drive it for a few city and highway trips to see if it starts working or goes away. I don't have enough experience with the way the system works from the factory to really help. Maybe a master rest to stock is needed then after driving for a bit you could go back in and set your Forscan stuff again.

Well - I could not confirm if this is up to date or not. So your mileage may vary....but this is saying that after replacing the battery the BMS can re-learn the new battery as long as you don’t touch the vehicle for 8 straight hours. Hence, a dealer reset may only be required if this process didn’t go as planned...see below...
=================
If the vehicle battery has been charged or battery replaced, it takes approximately 8 hours for the BCM to learn the new battery state of charge. During this 8 hour period, the vehicle must be undisturbed, with no doors opened or keyless entry buttons pressed. If the vehicle is used before the BCM is allowed to learn the new battery state of charge, engine off load shedding may occur earlier than normal and a message may be displayed.
If the vehicle has been jump started, engine off load shedding can still occur and a message may be displayed until the BCM determines the battery state
of charge is above 40%.

While I'm all about being proactive, in this case you might better have been served by waiting it out.

With no change to usage intervals, my truck has done the same thing for a week or two at a time. Then, just as I start getting concerned about it, it goes back to normal. The length of time has slightly increased as my battery gets older.
