Baja Design Fog Lights

Purchased the BD Fog Light Kit some time back, they have been working great but recently my middle light has gone out on both sides. It's hooked up to my #5 Upfitter switch. See image for reference

Fuses seem fine, harness is not the issue.


Anything else you would check?

Disconnect at the light, do you see ~12VDC there with the upfitter on measuring to ground???

FYI, your lights are upside down.

But check the fuse panel, see if the fuse is blown. If it's out on both sides it's either a blown fuse OR the upfitter wire came loose. If you are using the Baja Designs kits (with their brackets, their upfitter wire harness) check the upfitter splice. If you just clamped it on with the vampire clamp (on the upfitter harness) then it probably isn't making a connection anymore is all. That's why we use weatherproof/heat shrinkable butt connectors on our harness, to ensure a proper connection

My BD light bar has gone out and I’m pretty certain it is the vampire clamp. Not sure if a vendor has any ability to give feedback to BD but that vampire clamp is the weak part of the kit. It would be nice if they provided a better connector for the price of the kit.

The best way to use them (which is the case for ANY crimp on connector) is to strip some wire back.

Double check that those dollar store weather pack connectors are making a solid connection.

I think BD had some bad amber fog lights. I had one fill up with water from a seal leak the second one did the same thing about 6 months later. Both took almost two months for BD to repair and send back. Not real happy with that quality.

Was thinking maybe I didn't check the right fuse. Does anyone know which fuse leads to the #5 switch?

if thats what it says in the manual, it should be right. i blew my #5 fuse recently too. its only rated for 5A, probably keep currently under 4A to be safe

I just had to fix a similar issue with a pair of my fog lights a few days ago. As others have mentioned, it turned out to be a bad connection at the vampire splice connector. Hopefully that's all it is for you too.

To be fair, if you look at the splice connector, it's not meant for a wire gauge as small as the AUX 5 wire. So it's not surprising it can fail. It's almost more surprising it works at all, tbh.
