just wondering if you ever figured out how you want to go with this system.

Sorry for just getting back to you its been a crazy one at work lately.

So where I'm at is I've gone with jl c2's in the back and c3 components in the front. I'm considering what I should do next which is a big fork in the road. Would it be easier to go aftermarket nav HU with steering wheel control interface (not worried about sync) or do complete oem integration with clean sweep and summing device. I'm currently weighing my options... I'm concerned a bit about loosing climate control on the screen and my backup cam as well. I was reading another thread about the factory bt mic issue so that is also a problem as well. Still looking for more information. If you have suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks!

Noah, can you explain a little more about what a clean sweep and summing device do? I've always been curious myself and figured why not ask the expert.

I will be reading this thread as well because I think I'd like to upgrade one day but I would like to keep all SYNC functionality as I like all this gucci shit the truck has (yes, even with the glitches).

He can definitely get y'all set up. I saw what he can do in a shop other than his, retain factory MFT head, change everything else. And man did it sound great. Same sound thru entire volume range, just (obviously) louder.

there are different signals going to each speaker from the oem amp. the jl summing device combines them to become a full range signal. so it takes the front tweeter and the front door and the rear doors and combines them internally to give you (for lack of a better word) a full range signal. once this has happened, this signal goes into the cleansweep to eliminate the factory eq curve. try this, go to your truck and turn the radio on. adjust the volume higher and you will notice that once you get past half volume, you start to lose sound frequencies. this is due to the oem system trying to protect the audio equipment in the truck. just about any aftermarket speaker that gets put in, can handle much more than the oem, so you are effectively reducing the output of the system. the cleansweep removes that, so you have a true full range signal going to your aftermarket amp.

you can use use the cleansweep, or any other sound processor to retain the oem head unit and still get awesome sound

I just ordered the same from Noah. 8" JL sub in back to replace the Sony sub, JL C2s in back, JL 570s in front, and new AMP, Summing device, and clean sweep.
