Hey guys. Raptor Expeditions is putting together a "Day in the Dirt" for Saturday February 25th. Its going to consist of a daytime run starting in AB, and finishing in Ocotillo Wells somewhere around 3pm. They'll break for lunch and then head back out for some nighttime fun. Specific details on the when and where of that are coming soon.

I'm wondering if there's enough interest in adding on to that, to include a night of camping followed by some fun Sunday morning? I'm not familiar with AB or OW personally, so we can either wing it or if someone who does know the area joins, maybe they can take point? I'm also not sure where the Raptor Expedition's day will end up, and if it makes sense to set up a basecamp in that general area, join on the evening run and return back to camp that night?

So still lots of variables up in the air, but if you're interested please reply here and lets see if we can put something together.

Not sure if it's convenient for the starting/stopping point, but the North Glamis KOA is an AWESOME place to stay! It's on the East side of the Salton Sea, near the start of the Bradshaw Trail. They have nice private cabins, natural hot spring tubs, and a decent restaurant! They also have regular camping lots too, for those that are hardcore.

Not sure if that fits what you had in mind, but figured I'd make you aware of it... even if it doesn't fit you idea for this time, you should check it out sometime! I love the area around the Salton Sea, strange and exciting to explore!

See you out there on the "Day in the Dirt" for sure...

:peace:

I'm trying to get details worked with Connor (Raptor Expeditions). Sounds like he knows of some cool landmarks to see out there, and that the daytime trip will be a more casual family-friendly type affair (with a handful of spots to let 'er rip if you want, but much more relaxed than their "Run" style events). This would be their first "Explorer" type (free) event.

Hopefully he'll have details up soon, so we can sort of plan and build around it from there!

I frequent that area around the Salton Sea a lot... Not so much on the Ocotillo Wells side, but the east side of the sea. Some awesome, bizarre, and uniques stuff to see! One of the only places I've seen a REAL desert oasis, with palms trees, warm crystal clear water fed from the ground, and even small fish! Definitely worth the trip!

Thank J for getting the post up their. We have been swamped putting together the March Rally but here is what we have planned for the February "Day in the Dirt"

February 25, 2012 we will be doing the “Raptor Expeditions: Day in the Dirt”. This will be a one day event and be held in Anza Borrego / Ocotillo Wells. There will be two individual runs: a day run and a night run. Please RSVP with us so we know who will be attending. To RSVP, visit our website www.RaptorExpeditions.com, and click on upcoming runs, then click on the link for the “Raptor Expeditions: Day in the Dirt”. I am planning on going out there this Friday and mapping a nice course for all of us to do on the 25th. So I will post up a full itinerary this Saturday.

This is a great opportunity for the new Raptor owners to get their wheels dirty and learn about their trucks in an off road environment. This event is also a great way to meet new Raptor owners and get involved in the off road Raptor community. This is not a Run. We will be there just to have a good time and meet other Raptor owners as well as give some helpful advice and tips for off roading in your Ford Raptor.

PS: As soon as you have picked your routes and published them, I'll start planning around 'em to see about camping that night. If you're looking for suggestions, and if its easy enough, maybe think about ending the day's event somewhere close to a campsite, as well as starting and ending the night run at that same spot? It would allow those of us camping to set up in the daylight, and then possibly join for the evening run knowing we'll return back to a set up and ready to go camp that night.

Either way, thanks again!
