A set of 5.4L headers on going my truck right now along with a Bassani cat-back. CJ Pony Parts is handling the install. They are going to do a blog post about it. Guys these heads are very well crafted. I was really set on ARH headers but now I'm really glad I got the Stainless Works headers.

...but I'm concerned about how loud it would be. I had LT's back on my 03 Lightning and it was fine for a limited use truck like that, but I drive the Raptor more often. I know some guys would like loud as hell, but put me in the best performance with the least increase in sound camp.

Mark-
Muffler selection will have the biggest impact on the interior volume level. For example, I have long tube w/ catted x-pipe on my G8 with the stock axle-back mufflers. It was a very quiet car to begin with and is only slightly louder at start up and full throttle with the new exhaust. There is no change in interior volume at cruise. And believe it or not, I think the Raptor is better insulated for sound, which would make a change less noticeable.

Very true. I was thinking of what I would want in a complete exhaust system. There really isn't much they could do in a LT design to effect sound either way. High flow cats versus straight through and cat-back design are going to influence the volume the most.

Here are some pics of what came off the truck and whats on the truck now. The CJs guys have been taking lots of durning the install. The shop manager and the mechanic were very impressed with quality of the headers. They said that they just dropped right in.

They started it before I got up here so I don't know what it sounded like before the cams. They said it sounded really good. Cams are going in right now. Yes on the 2nd Gen L's the exhaust exits before the axle.
