Load Range E (10 ply) won't ride as soft as the stock Load Range C tires. Lowering air pressure a little can make them ride a little better. But they still won't ride as soft as Load Range C's. Unfortunately there aren't many Load Range C 315/70/17 to choose from.
they have a 2 ply sidewall vs the three ply on most others (k02) so it helps a bit

If i didnt live in an area that gets snow id get the Coopers. Too bad no 3 peak. Falkens do great in the snow . But youre right , a lot heavier.
Don't let that fool you. Have had cooper at3s on my last 2 work vans. Got 5k miles on my 4th set and they are absolutely fantastic in the snow and ice. Don't get a ton here in the northern Chicago burbs but enough to be very impressed. My buddy is going from KO2s to these coopers on his plow trucks after his first set did so well. Not to mention tread wear has been awesome. Got 60k on my last set that could have gone another 10-15k easily if an alignment issue didn't mess up 2 of them

My buddy has a set. First time out in the desert, a stick went through the sidewall. A few months later in Baja, he had a sidewall bubble on the first day. They look good but he seems to be spending a lot of time changing tires

They aren't 3PMSF? The AT3 4S I had were 3PMSF and they were amazing in snow/sleet/ice.

And yeah, Falken are way too heavy per tire for me to be interested in them.

edit: seems like only some sizes of AT3 XLT have the 3PMSF certification while others are M+S even though the design is the same. I wonder if it's just a delayed certification thing?

I've driven through 2x sub-10˚ blizzards with obscene road conditions (aka they sent out an armada of plows, dirt/salt trucks, and tow truck escorts to unblock a 6 hour traffic jam in the mountains) with the AT3 4S (275/55R20) and was pretty blown away by how well they did compared to my previous KO2s (on a Range Rover Sport).

F250 in front of me with what looked to be General Grabbers + chains on all 4 was fishtailing and sliding like crazy up an icy hill that was tossing every Prius/Outback/Audi/BMW into the snow ditch to the side. Meanwhile I went up it just fine without any slippage. Was fully expecting to slide around given they aren't actual winter tires, but not even a hint of lost traction.

That being said, I drove through even worse conditions in Tahoe (on 80) during the last atmospheric river event and the KO2s did surprisingly well. I'm guessing the extra width of the 315/70R17 helped, but they did get squirrely. I think this truck + AT3 would handle everything but the worst road conditions with relative ease.
