Ok....somebody has to let you in on some common knowledge for folks who have been living in Idaho longer than four years:

We've been battling it out with the likes of Mississippi and New Mexico for the title of poorest state in the union since the bottom fell out of the timber industry in the 80s. We've made progress...we're now 44th in household income, having passed economic power houses like West Virgina and South Carolina. We literally haven't been on the right side of prosperous since the gold rush.

Entitlement? We have one of the highest Federal entitlement participation rates in the nation, when comparing total unemployed to the number of those people filing for unemployment claims. Higher than Oregon and much, much higher than California. Idaho is a proud state with conservative values but let's not pretend it's all roses outside of Eagle or Nampa or wherever you so proudly call home. Go ahead and announce your disdain and disgust for people who accept federal checks in a town like Buhl, Blackfoot or Shoshone. Go ahead, we'll wait and see if you walk out of there when you turn your chin up at those folks. Welfare programs are very much in our DNA--at a participation rate that's more than twice that of Comifornia.

For those of us who have been here longer than this century, the influx of newbs spouting about their new found freedom Mecca is entertaining at best, albeit slightly nauseating. The COVID migratory group is particularly ignorant to the realities of the Gem State. And as a heads up, most of Idaho's politically conservative history is due to its LDS residents and the direction of the church. Watch what happens when the Church green lights industrial hemp or someday welcomes homosexuality (gasp!). As goes the Church, so goes Idaho, historically speaking. While I have always cherished Idaho's libertarian leaning management, don't go thinking Tucker Carlson or McCarthy are calling the shots up here.

You might also be upset upon learning that your new home has a decorated history of defending it's natural resources and access to public land from privatization at all costs. That history is fiercely bipartisan and a beautiful hybrid of old school libertarian and conservation oriented values. Just ask Representative Simpson or the late Frank Church.

But absolutely do carry on. We love all the new folks here who can't be bothered to smell the sht outside of the roses. We can't have you stop bragging about leaving the dreaded California for paradise, now, can we?
i want to apologize before I write and need to declare that I am not, in anyway, shape or form, politically correct. That said, Idaho Savage is either stupid, or having a Biden moment and running his mouth, not realizing the misinformation (I hate that word), is a total lie. He vilified me without provocation, for moving from California to Idaho. During which time, he threw out lies about poor idahoans collecting welfare and inferred it was because of people like me. If you read the above posts, which contained factual data, you will realize Idaho Savage is FOS. Idaho Savage, hence forth referred to as potato head, is attempting to pass his failures in life on people, like me, that fled from California for a better life. It is not my fault that I brought California money with me, everyone would. Yes, the roads are more crowded and unfortunately, some people, not me, brought their voting habit, but again, not me! Potato head, move to Arkansas, Mississippi and parts of Georgia and you will know exactly what I mean!

We used to call this a "remote trigger" in my past life. I guess I'm living rent free in your head, as they say.

My data came from the census which fairly accurately reflects pre-covid macro and some microeconomic trends and indexes at a state level. And most economists consider UI a form of welfare. That's why it often falls under poverty indexes.

I have been all over GA and shot ducks in AR. Thing is, they're both beautiful states, so I'm not sure what you're getting at with your "move to the South" bent. Been there and it's a wonderful part of our country. Much of my family still lives there.

You're definitely corny as all get up with your weird King of the Hill vibe and obsession with money, but if you need me, I guess I'm in your head. I'm sure you're a blast at parties, though.

Got it….like Biden, you blame others for incompetence AND YOU RUN YOUR MOUTH SPOUTING BS! I beg you to post where you obtained the BS cry baby Idaho crap. I’m waiting!!!

Apparently
you are one of the 1600 in Idaho on welfare. If you went to collage….oops, graduated from high school, you should understand economics 101. Biden is obviously mentally impaired, I assume you are as well. The links are plain and simple, you lied to make your agenda plausible, kinda like Biden blaming Trump for the Afghanistan withdraw. I invite you to post, as I did, where you obtained the BS you wrote. Please, I beg you, make me look stupid! Otherwise, take your poor me attitude to Arkansas and live the dream, as I do! Lastly, I suggest you watch the movie Deliverance and learn not to bend over!
WTF, write facts you can back up, or move to someplace you can buy a double wide. Do not blame me and other people like me that fought wars, went to collage and earned money afterwards. I moved to Idaho for many reasons, one of which is, because my money earned in war and California is more valuable. You can take the poor me, miners, farmer attitude to Arkansas.
As Ricky used to say, “splain it to me”

I’ve seen it happen, but as of now, it hasn’t happened to me. That said, I once witnessed the person on the opposite side of the pump, remove the nozzle from a vehicle whose driver walked away and pump a few gallons into a large gas can. Have fun saving the planet!

And then there is this guy that used pump diesel to thwart a carjacking. Try that with a DC fast charger!

Didnt read the whole thread but I have both and am not planning on keeping the Lightning. I like the truck, it's fun to drive around town and I love having a full charge every morning.

I have range anxiety. People say "don't worry about it" and all of that, but even a two hour trip drives me up the wall with the fear of not making it. The charging system (in Louisiana/Texas) is NOT ready for EVs yet. It's horribly unreliable and not spaced well for the range this truck has. I've counted on multiple chargers that ended up not working or being behind a fence.

People don't realize this but you can charge to 100% the night before a trip BUT the road chargers will not let you go past 80ish. You generally try to stop around 10-20% so that means you are really at 60% working range unless you like pushing limits...which is hard in areas with fewer chargers. Charging at a hotel or other level 1/2, it is so slow that it is impractical unless you are there for a day.

My range on the interstate drops 1/4-1/3. If you go 60 it isn't as bad but 80mph kills the m/kWh. It doesn't get too cold here but I've still seen a drop in winter range.

I'm coming up on my 10k service on the Lightning. To be fair, it hasn't been in the shop once and my 23 Raptor has been in the shop for 7 weeks since I got it in Dec 22.

Thanks for an honest review/description of owning a Lightning! Hope your Raptor gets fixed soon!
