Anyone else think Ford maybe having trouble making these?

I think that once a few comparison tests come out the emphasis on the V8 sounds may lessen a bit. 450 possible (+-) hp and 500 lbs lighter won't be something to snicker at regardless of the sound. With future CAFE standards being what they are Ford is likely phasing out the V8 in trucks as it constitutes something like 80% of their sales. Doesn't look like Dodge or GM really cares about CAFE right now though.

I wonder how many of the V8 or nothing crowd have ever driven a 3.5 Ecoboost. I know they haven't driven the V2 going into the raptor.

Most guys I know who bought V1 Ecoboost engines in their F150s are very happy with that engine. The driving dynamics of the Aluminum F150 far exceeds that of the steel bodied models.

I drove a 4.7L dodge V8 today and that engine utterly blows compared to even a V1 Ecoboost .

I've driven the v1 and didn't like it, that said no one has driven the v2 minus a select few testers and developers so it's not really a good point to use for either side. Either way, I don't want it, and I'm happy about that cause I get to wait a while longer before retiring my gen 1 and don't have to blow the money on it right now.

Pretty sure the sierra 5.3 already gets 23mpg. I imagine that will get a lot better when they move to aluminum. Of course, that truck is also making a lot less power. But then on the other hand the real world fuel economy of the EB3.5 has always been far lower than advertised.

With the crap VW pulled with diesels it wouldn't be hard to imagine the EPA cracking down on these ratings games with a more strenuous test.

Negative. I just don't have any interest. Period.

But I have had turbo cars in the past. I get it.

I just can't get excited about a V6 in a full size truck. I'd probably be fine with one in a Taco or a Ranger. But then again I generally have no use for a Taco or a Ranger.

I've owned 5.0, 6.2, and 3.5 Ecoboost trucks. Without question, in my experience, the Ecoboost is overall the best of all world's. Hands down. When driven like a feller with some semblance of sense, the Ecoboost averages 16.5 mpg around town and 22 mpg on the highway (under about 65 or so). That's in a loaded Super Crew FX4. The V8 trucks? Not so much.

Where it really shines is torque and overall power, especially with a tune. Lawd have mercy! Again, the V8s aren't even close in these areas, tune for tune. Stock, the 6.2 was really close to the Ecoboost. However, it's a different ballgame altogether by simply adding a tune. So for truck stuff, having some fun, or just normal daily driving, the tuned Ecoboost clearly outshines the others.

Of course, it doesn't sound as good as a V8. However, considering others driving V8s don't get close enough to hear me, I'm the only one who notices.

I've driven them all on your list except the 6.2, all without tunes and I still find the TTV6 is the better engine.

I suppose Ford could sit around trying to push inferior crap down everyone's throat and end up paying fines to the government for CAFE violations.

I prefer they advance the technology. Just look how GM is suddenly all about aluminum. That is what is called a clue.........

are you 100% sure of this? I thought the raptor will have a separate frame (similar and re informed etc) and the super crew cab is bigger. not sure if these are easy to work into the production line.

Now I know the super duty and the raptor will have same super crew cab but is this the same for the regular f150 super crew?

The frame is the same as the F150 with some "reinforcement" points. Not sure where or what that means. The cabs are the same

Frame is different and wider to start with, engine is different as well. Sequencing all the special parts isn't always easy.

Frame isn't wider, the control arms and rear axles are though. That's how they get the added travel. If you have a wider frame and same control arms you don't get any increased travel.

Where is this CAFE everyone is talking about? Let's meet there and have a few sip/shots/or maybe you can have your own bottle of Gentlmen's Crack and let's talk this over in a civil manner. Look, V8/V6/******/Varoom, either way you're in a Raptor. You're on the top of the food chain. Enjoy. Smile. And always remember, someone's hot lady out there wishes she was in your Dino right now, shifting your....or through your playlist right now. How do I know? 1. I am a God fearing American 2. I believe Baby Jesus is an Army Ranger. 3. My communist wife said she will shift through my playlist come November-December when my Shadow Blackarsh Gen2 gets delivered. So. Say we meet at the CAFE in an hour and let's talk some Cavemen Raptor Taming Doorkicking Barrel Chested Freedom Fighter topics. And just get along....LOL
