I had my intercooler and cold air installed today and have to wait until next week to get my tune emailed back but first impressions are good. It breaths a lot better and it pulls easier up top, the sound of the exhaust and turbos are more noticeable. I can’t wait for the tune.

Quick question about the tomahawk, I got the serial number out of it vs the one on the device. What is the microprocessor number or where do I find it?

I noticed the same thing and figured they decided after writing the instructions to use a 1 piece hose.

Serial number inside the tomahawk is the microprocessor number serial number if the actual tomahawk is what’s written on the back sticker

After about 2000 miles on the MPT tune, I can tell you the stock intercooler gets heat soaked pretty easily even when you aren’t pushing it. On a good day, I am seeing about a 30-40F gap between Ambient temp and AIT2. If you push it just a little, 50F gaps become common. This is going to suck when the summer rolls around. Hopefully by then, there will be a few (cost effective) options for upgrades.

I agree about MPT. I live in AZ and might go stock tune for the summer without a new IC. Well not stock but the low performance MPT. Also my radiator fans are come on very quick into the warmup and stay on with 55deg outside air temps.

Based on everything I've seen with the Gen2 platform, I think it should be a prerequisite to install at minimum, the Whipple upgraded IC, and if the budget allows, the Full Race/ADD version- before any tune. There's just way too much heatsoak happening even at stock boost levels.

If you look at the stock IC location the area behind it is wide open and that heat is dumped away without any consequence. With the "race" location that heat is being dumped directly in front of the radiator, AC and transmission cooler. I am not sure that is a better concept unless you really need a winch. I am strictly going off what I have seen on race cars.

Best bet, short of a winch... in my opinion...

Is to stick with the stock location and run whipple or similar.

I run a whipple IC. It’s beautifully made and it works VERY well. It’ll handle anything you throw at it with stock turbos. Heck, it probably would handle upgraded turbos under normal conditions too.

It’s worth the 899 for sure.

That being said I’ve still never had a single heat issue with MPT. I did bring my coolant temp down 10 degrees with a bottle of water wetter. I’m not kidding. The crap actually worked!

Just finished installing the Whipple Stage 1 kit. Install was fairly straight forward, a few things Whipple left out were like other mentioned the plastic shielding around the stock intercooler needs to be removed and the entire plastic elbow below the bypass valve needs to come out and is replaced with the silicon elbow. intake was easy as well. I just bought new plugs and regapped then to 0.025" and put them in. The tune install went smooth as well. just took it for a drive and can't believe how fast it is. seems to spool quicker and in sport the boost come on very quickly. couldn't be happier.
