Anyone have this issue where sometimes, for no apparent reason, my truck's audible sounds go from normal to this analog sound. It happens at start and won't stop till I shut it off and restart later. It happens with the seat belts and parking distance sensors. It's a 2020 model.

Do you have Forscan or have you done any forscan mods? I'm not positive, but I think if there are any codes in the ACM or APIM it will default to the IPC speaker for tones instead of thru the stereo. You may have a loose speaker connection or similar, but it should show up in a DTC

It's at the dealer now and they don't know why or how. No codes either.

Happens to mine occasionally maybe 3 times since I've had the truck, at first I was like wtf, no DTCs or any obvious reasons. IIRC @FordTechOne discussed this a few (many?) months ago and said it's related to the BCM and what it's doing to maintain the battery charge. I'm sure he can explain it better than I can, I just know it's harmless and the truck is smarter than I am most of the time.

My 2020 did this once when the radio was turned on via power button when the vehicle was off. It reset after a fresh key cycle

This has been discussed numerous times.....and the general consensus is that on occassion, the stereo takes longer to boot up than normal. The "do dee do" chime defaults to the "analogue" speaker behind the dash. This can last thru a couple of ignition cycles but will clear after time.

This will also occur more permanently if you have a faulty speaker connection.

Thanks for the info. One thing I've found is it happens more often on cold days which makes sense.

I think this will also onset with a battery charge issue - not necessarily bad, but if you were jamming the radio with the truck off - like washing the truck and as mentioned before, this definitely happens on some boot ups. You can shut down and turn back on and most of the time the chimes go back to normal but once the chime is through the tinny sounding speaker, it stays that way through the entire ignition cycle, including your backup alarm.

This is the most common scenario that will cause the chimes to default to the Instrument Cluster; mine does the same.

The IPC is the chime arbitrator. As others mentioned, if there are DTCs in the audio system or battery charge is low, the chimes will always default to the IPC. If it only occurs occasionally, such as after using the radio with the engine off, there is nothing to address. If the chimes only come through the cluster all the time, that is not normal and would need to be diagnosed.
